August 2012 Weddings

Reasonable communication and follow up from vendor

Last weekend we went to our venue to do some planning. We picked out some menu items, decor etc. Our coordinator was supposed to email us the information with the pricing. It is nearly a week later and we haven't heard a word. Is it unreasonable to have expected this information by now? I know I am anxious to get this info as we need to determine if we have enough budget to do a full open bar or just beer and wine.

Re: Reasonable communication and follow up from vendor

  • We are having this issue with a florist, she said she would get back to us in a week. Two weeks we still had not heard from her. Now three weeks later we still have not heard from her but she is out either way! I do not think it is unreasonable to expect vendors to get back to you within a timely manner. I would give it a few days and then check in.
  • I think 3 days is the most appropriate, but I would say a week max is a reasonable time frame, unless you've disussed otherwise. I'm not a very patient person either, lol. I would probably contact at 1 week...

  • Send a follow-up.
  • Thanks I will be following up with her. I completely understand that they are likely busy, I just am very eager to get the info so we can make some decisions.

  • I am definitely an antsy person, so if they don't follow-up with me, I will make contact.  I think it's reasonable to send a follow-up email after a week.  I am guilty of forgetting to send a follow-up after telling someone I would, so it's a visual reminder which will stand out more than what they verbally told you.  Intiating will make you feel better/calmer & help your vendor as well.

  • I agree with following up, especially if it reaches the 10 day mark!!  Good luck!! :)
