north carolina beach wedding

My fiance and I are planning a beach wedding in North Carolina.  We were thinking of Ocean Isle, I looked at two places- The Winds Beach Resort and The Islander Inn.  I'd like some input of these places if anyone can help.  Any other ideas are welcome as well.  Thanks!

I highly recommend Surf City/ Topsail Island!  I got married at the Surf City Center last September.  It is a community building right on the beach.  We had our ceremony on the beach and went right inside for the reception.  The location was perfect!  Plenty of parking (they have a private lot just for the center) and there is handicap beach access right there.

I found Topsail Island to be cheaper then other locations since it is not quite the outerbanks, but it is far enough away from Wilmington and Murtle Beach.  So the prices are good, and you aren't bothered by lots of people.

The other nice thing about Surf City and Topsail Island is that they allow chairs, decorations, and music on the beach.  A lot of places have restrictions on what you can do and where.  So regardless of where you go, make sure you call the local town office to get the information on what is ok and what is not.

I think I looked at the Winds Beach Resort.  I believe they require you to do everything in house which is why we didn't go with them.  We wanted to find our own caterer and do our own bar.  But I remember it being very nice.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions or want to see any pictures: aboyer8 at gmail dot com.

I agree w/Allie. I'm getting married Sept of this year on the beach. We picked the Surf City Welcome and Visitors Center too. The view is awesome and everybody there has been great to work with. Let me know if you are interested and I can send you the link to their site or you can google it :)

Another beach option is the public beach at Fort Fisher Recreation Area in Kure Beach. They allow all kinds of chairs, arches, music, etc and it's only $35 for a special event permit. My FI & I are getting married there and having the reception at the aquarium just down the road next May 2012. A big bonus is the beach there is so wide, you don't need to worry about coordinating your event with the tides.

I am getting Married in Carolina Beach in Sept of this year.   We have rented a condo and are holding the weddding on the beach just outside the condo. We are having a reception dinner in Wilmington.. My wedding is small just close family and friends. A total of about 25 people.  Carolina Beach does not charge for permits and they allow chairs, tents etc.
