Check! Marriage License

I know this is mandatory (to get a license), but I am super duper excited.

I was really stressed about changing my last name completely, but I didn't want to keep my name completely either. I also didn't want to lose my middle name (I was originally going to move my current last name to my middle name) and I wasn't thrilled about using a hypen for two last names.

Well, I decided to use the hypen anyway, but when I was filling out the paperwork, I noticed I could have my two last names minus the hypen! I know that sounds SUPER SILLY, but you don't even know how thrilled I was. I get to keep all my birth names and still add his!

Re: Check! Marriage License

  • I'm torn because I love my middle name, but my mother did what you did today 28 years ago and I think it will make the initial transition much easier. I think I'll probably end up doing that too.

Good job on the check! I need to take time off of work becauase the court house is always closed when I'm at work.

  • I can't immediately change my name (oh how that would screw with my visa), but when I do, I'm moving my current last name to join my middle name (you can have more than one!) and changing my last name.
  • I'm doing it the old fashioned way, dropping my maiden name all together and going with FI's last name :D

Congrats on the check! We have to fix our license now >.<

  • I do not blame you. I was really excited as well. I think I counted down the days to me being able to apply for my license. I did like  lissadelsol and moved my last name with my middle, therefore, I am able to keep all of my names and also having a new last name. I cannot wait, less than two weeks before my wedding.

  • FI and I got ours on Tuesday, but we don't do the name change paperwork until after the wedding.  I'm gonna just take FI's last name and keep my maiden name as a middle name.

  • I'm dropping my last name and taking FI's. I'm keeping the same first and middle names. This made the most sense for me since my last name is hard to pronounce and spell.
  • It is a fun task to check off, makes it feel much closer! I am keeping my name so it was easy to fill out all the paperwork :)

  • I'm hypenating.  It's just me and my sister to carry on the name and I love my last name, it's a big part of my identity but it's not like I need it for professional reasons.  Plus I have a ' in my last name.

He told me he was fine with what ever I do so I am hypenating and the future babies witll have his so we are all cohesive, without causing massive headaches on standardized tests.
