  If you're going to post the same thing on multiple boards, it's polite to put XP in the title.  It means cross-post.
  
  And no, to everything.  You can't demote people.  If you can't plan and execute your wedding on your own, with help from FI, you need to scale back.

  I think maybe using the word "demote" you're giving people the wrong impression.  I don't see why you couldn't have both a maid of honor (traditionally an unmarried person) and a matron of honor (traditionally a married person).  Also, you might want to be more clear with your MOH what your expectations are.  It could be a disconnect caused by what you're expecting and what she thinks you're expecting.

  Totally agree. It is actually fairly common to have both a Maid AND Matron of Honor... you can easily add this extra person without the perception of "demoting" anyone. Maybe use the angle of "I know this role is a lot of work, so I thought it might help if you can share the load!"

  Thanks for all your responses! You have been a lot of help. I meant no disrespect to anyone. I have been communicating with my MOH the best I can. I know things will work out for the best.

  I actually have both myself. Since my sister lives in Cali, she won't be able to participate in other activities like the shower and the bachlorette party. She and my mom may have been a little miffed about it, but they got over it quickly. Just take the angle that there may be a lot of responsibilty and you didn't want all of it to fall on one person.
