I work in an office and you'd think that would be a quiet work environment, but nooooo... my cw's talk SOOOO LOUD!!! I can't take it!!!! Use your inside voices people!
I was working quietly at my desk this morning and a coworker came into my cube to tell me something, I didn't realize she came up behind me and when she started to speak she was so loud and startling I practically jumped out of my chair. I'm miserable for some reason today and it pissed me off!
Oh god, I just need to make it through this day!! LOL
Well I'm still battling my cold or whatever I have right now. I really feel like a bum because I haven't exercised. But if I do even one jumping jack, I go into a coughing fit.
Tell me it's okay to refrain from exercising for a while. I start feeling awful about myself if I go 2 days without exercising. And then I start to worry that I won't fit into my dress and be a blob in time for the wedding.
my WTF is that my MIL is driving me CRAZY!!! I think my anxiety is so built up from here and I can't really say anything, because I don't want to hurt FI's feelings. I can't wait until this wedding is over so I don't have to hear her comments anymore! Oh and it has been so quiet at work because right now is the time that a lot of people go on vacay so it is BORING! is it July yet and vacation time?
I hate loud coworkers, too. My supervisor, who's desk is directly behind mine, types with her goddamn NAILS. So all I hear all day is CLACKETYCLACKETYCLACKCLACKETYCLACK
We close on our house 2 weeks from today and it's recently hit me like a ton of bricks. Moving is a LOT of work and I've hardly even started packing. I'm beyond nervous/excited/stressed.
We also just bought a TON of paint and I'm praying to GOD the colors are what we want! We wanted to take advantage of some Memorial Day sales at Lowe's over the weekend.
I don't really have any vents today, but it's only just past 10 AM, so that could change!
Mekiakoo, don't feel bad for taking a few days off of working out. I'm typing this while telling myself the same thing, because I usually feel the same way as you do haha. FI always tells me to not work out while I'm sick because it'll just weaken your immune system and make it harder for your body to fight the infection, so you'll spend even more time being sick and not being able to work out! A few days off won't kill you, or make you gain 5 lbs
You know what, I never hear a sound at my work. I wonder why.........
K888- moving is a LOT OF WORK!! I said I was never going to do it again for as long as possible. But hey, you get to go through everything and throw out whatever you don't need anymore. Then you get to make your house ALL YOURS! The way you want it!
Painting is also a lot of work- focus on the result, though, it'll be so worth it at the end.
mekiakoo - That's actually a really good way of looking at it. I have a tendency to hold onto stuff that I really don't need anymore so I'm sure I have tons of crap that needs to get thrown out.
Thankfully FI has tons of friends that owe him favors so we'll be putting them to work with painting. :)
Seriously, I have accumulated SO MUCH STUFF In the 5 years that I have been in my current apartment....preparing to move into our new home has been a great excuse to trash all the crap I don't need anymore!!
We are hiring painters to re-paint everything before we move in....we are far too lazy and un-talented to paint ourselves!!!! I painted 2 walls in my current apartment when I moved in. There is still turqoise paint on the ceiling from where I missed the wall. Whoopsie.

Haha you should see some of our ceilings. We were exhausted at the end that we kept bumping the ceiling with our paint. Some of them look lovely..... But it makes me smile because then I remember how hard it was and how we did it all on our own. I'm sure it'll start to bother me later though- maybe we can just paint parts of the ceiling with white paint? Would that work?
This weeks WTF is a ton of stress and confusion for me. I am very frustrated with my current job and started applying for others, thinking with as slow as engineering firms are it'd be long after the wedding before i really heard anything. Well apparently I was wrong. Had an interview a couple of weeks ago, and last Thursday they called and asked for my references (umm... there on my resume) and then on Friday called and offered me the job. Now I don't know what to do... I don't know if I want to take it, or not, or if I want to try to push to start after the wedding, or if I want the added stress of a new job before the wedding. And the thing is, is that my current job has no idea I'm even looking, so I can't discuss it with any of my friends (who are CW's) because I don't want the rumor getting out... AHH... super stressed... have a meeting with HR of the new job at 4pm today to discuss benefits... so confused.....

Ugh I feel like sh*t today as well. I just came home early from work. I think I ate something bad last night at dinner because since then my stomach has been feeling like someone is squeezing and tying it in knots. And I feel like a blob for not working out or eating right at all.
K888 - I agree with mekiakoo that packing is so not fun but going through everything will be helpful! Take your time as well and soak it all in, I hate moving but I love unpacking and making the house feel like our own.

@ macfam, I've been going through something slightly similar to yours, though not as immediate. I'm going to apply for a position at FI's school pretty much right around the time of the wedding, and I've been anxious already just thinking about it. He's going to give my resume to the Principal tomorrow. I absolutely positively hate change, so that's why even thinking about it makes me nervous. My current employer doesn't know what I'm doing either.

The new Mrs. McIver!!
Macfam, without knowing a whole lot about you, your degree, interests, or the field in general, I say go for the new job. As I was reading all the things you listed off, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, and it really didn't. It sounds like a great opportunity! Don't turn it down just because you're afraid of change! And if you do change your mind down the road, you do have your degree, and your experience at your current job to fall back on, if this new one turns out to not give you much to add in the way of engineering.
Macfam - I say go for it! It sounds like an amazing company and a great new opportunity. I think you have some general concerns like if you don't like it down the road but that's okay. I would say even with the hesitation of switching from ME/CS to total CS I think you will still be okay to get back into the world of ME especially with your degree and previous work experience.
macfam - I think the benefits sound great in this new job but I feel like it really boils down to your long-term career goals. I also currently work in the aerospace industry (I'm in marketing, not engineering, though) so I understand where your hesitation lies in moving out of the sector with this new job opportunity. Are the job skill requirements similar/the same? If yes, I don't think you have anything to worry about. However, if they are very different, I would seriously consider your options.
My FI left his previous employer for a position that really set him back as far as job skill requirements go, and it is now hurting him while he searchers for a new job opportunity.

Wow this sure sounds like a great opportunity!!! My eyes popped out at the free on-site daycare and gym membership. I'd take it immediately and just give your current company a 2 week notice whenever you are ready to leave. You can probably see when you can start with your new job- see if they can wait until after the wedding. Doesn't hurt to check.
But few more questions: are the job requirements similar? Will you be able to advance in the new job? Is this something you can see working for years to come (maybe even permanently)?
I know almost everybody is scared of change, but at the same time it's a lot of fun. You'll make new friends, you'll learn new skills, you'll also be getting better benefits. I always remind myself that the transition DOES NOT TAKE FOREVER and I will become comfortable eventually. Change can be good.

Macfam- i totally agree with everyone else. take the job. It sounds like a fantastic opportunity.
Would you regret passing up the job and staying in your current one? Being in the job market right now, there is stuff out there, but if you find something great- go for it!!
K888- we close in 3 weeks. i feel you girl. And since im officially moving out of my parents house, i have 22 years of crap to get rid of.
MY WTFs are 2 separate ones. 1- i went to the gym yesterday, was feeling all good about myself, and the car wouldnt start when i tried to leave. I work out, and this is how i am rewarded- seriously?
2. My sister/MOH is being a b*tch. Im pretty sure she's pmsing- but seriously, shes pissing me off. anything she says to me is snarky, and then im naturally snarky back, and then she gets mad at me.
and hello girls! i havent been on a few days. whats going on?
My WTF is dog related and probably sounds so stupid. My huge black lab went between my mom's legs yesterday and caused her to fall, and when she fell, she fell on my 6 pound De Yum Yum. De Yum Yum tried to run away but my mom was on her tail and she had her tail pulled. She seemed to be in a lot of pain so we took her to the vet and apparently this is a really serious injury and she may never be able to lift her tail or possible never be able to control her poop! It may even need to be amputated. Her tail still wasn't lifted this morning when I left. This is the dog that I paid $2,000 to get all her teeth removed last may. She's the million dollar dog. Why is this happening?!?!
Megan - That's awful k8888 - i totally understand moving, it is a total pain!! Good luck, just set small goals!
Thank you all for helping talk me through this. I have a meeting tonight at 4 with the new HR, so we shall see how that goes. keeping my fingers crossed. I will keep you all updated!! Thank you again, you all made me feel not crazy!!

Oh my gosh! Poor dog. :o( I always feel so bad for pets when they get hurt - nothing is more innocent than an animal - and it sucks that you can't explain things to them. :-\
Meagan, OMG. Years ago I went on a walk with my samoyed and my friend's pug. A collie attacked both of the dogs and bit the pug's tail. The pug's tail went limp and didn't move for a while. Took her to the vet, but the pug eventually regained movement in her tail. They say it was just a shock. I truly hope it'll be the same for your dog. But OMG that's terrible. Poor dog!

It may even need to be amputated. Her tail still wasn't lifted this morning when I left. This is the dog that I paid $2,000 to get all her teeth removed last may. She's the million dollar dog. Why is this happening?!?!

Oh my gosh! Poor dog. :o( I always feel so bad for pets when they get hurt - nothing is more innocent than an animal - and it sucks that you can't explain things to them. :-\
