Clarisonic Mia

Looking into purchasing this.
I've looked on Amazon and it's about $100 - I have a couple of questions though before I buy something this expensive!
1) Do you have to replace the end piece (the brush cleaner piece) ? If so, how often and how much does that cost you?
2) Can you explain to me how you use it?
3) I've read that Murad cleanser is good and Cetaphil - can you use ANY facial cleaner with it?

I've also read that the Olay one is just as good! (It's only about $30)

I'd love to hear your alls thoughts! I used to have super bad acne & it's gotten better, but I still have breakouts more often than I would like to.

Re: Clarisonic Mia

  • I have the Clarisonic Mia. I bought it directly from the Clarisonic website though. Yes, you have to replace the brush heads. They're supposed to be only good for 3 months. Their website has an automatic program that will ship the brush heads to you every quarter or however often you need them. I did not notice it helping with my acne though.

  • I bought the Oil of Olay version and love it! I have never tried the Mia, so I can't compare. I do enjoy how deeply it cleans my skin & I have seen a difference my acne. Mine has decreased a lot. Just be gentle at first. You don't want to be too abrasive over your acne and irritate it more. I use Mary Kay Timewise 3-1 cleanser, but I know of many who use the Murad or Purity cleansers with it as well. It's just a rotating brush, so you can use whatever cleanser you want.

It seems like most (including myself) find it better to rub your cleanser onto your wet face first, creating a little lather. Then turn on your brush to whichever setting you prefer (start slow) and go around your face in circles. Don't put pressure on it or push it onto your face. Just hold it on the skin & allow the brush to do the work. I believe you should take about 1-2min to do your whole face, so go slow. Sometimes I'll go back & repeat a section if it's a trouble spot.
  • 1) Do you have to replace the end piece (the brush cleaner piece) ? If so, how often and how much does that cost you? Every 3 months. There are several types of "brushes" to choose from.
    2) Can you explain to me how you use it? I wet my face, put/rub the cleanser on my face, wet the clarisonic and go!
    3) I've read that Murad cleanser is good and Cetaphil - can you use ANY facial cleaner with it? You can truly use any kind. I personally use one of Neutrogena's cleansers.

I had the Oil of Olay one first- it was ok. But I really love the Clarisonic and I think it's worth the $$. It really helped to smooth and even out my skin tone and it definitely helped with my mild acne.

I also have the Olay version and love it.  I use it with Philosophy's Purity Made Simple and my skin has never looked better.

I originally planned on buying the Mia, until I read reviews on Amazon about the Olay version.  They're basically the same exact thing.

  • Thanks Everyone :)
  • I love my Mia, and knowing now what i know, I would have paid twice. Seriously.
And you can find coupons for Ulta to bring the price down a bit.
I use Murad, but I think you would be fine with most any cleanser.
Because I wear a LOT of makeup, I first wash my face with just my hands to get most of the makeup off, rinse, and then do a repeat with the Mia. Before I started washing my makeup off first the brush got all dingy with my makeup and maybe it's psychological, but I didn't like how it never looked clean to me. I didn't want to just be washing the makeup back into my skin.
  • I want one of these in a bad way.  Skincarerx.com has 20% off sitewide right now making it $95.

  • May sound dumb but my  mia saved my skin. It works amazing for me. I had to buy the delicate brush head because i have sensitive skin. I use dark angels face wash by lush with it. Your skin can ( most people go through this )  go through a "purging" stage but as long as you continue to use it, it does get better. I use mine in the shower every morning with my purity face wash and every night with my dark angels face wash. My skin look amzing now and my makeup goes on so much smoother.
