Wickham Park wedding??

Has anyone had, gone to, or head about a wedding at Wickham Park? I am wondering if it would be more afforable to have it there and catered versus a ballroom. Thanks!

I looked into them after booking my "expensive venue" but came to realize I would be spending more between the site rental, caterers and having to bring in all decorations, etc. So I ended up sticking with my original place, plus I think I will have less headaches having my venue handle everything!

We chose a venue where we have to bring in all our vendors.  With all the extra work and stuff, it's actually costing us more per person than it would have if we had just gone with a facility that does it all.  I think it is possible to do something less expensive, but it really depends on what you want and how much time you have to do a lot of work yourself hiring people, decorating, etc.  You may be surprised that it may be cheaper going to an all in one kind of place.  I had to hire a day of coordinator because I realized that there will be a lot of stuff that needs to get done that I need to pass on to someone else.  We didn't want a banquet facility though, so that's why we chose what we did.  It really all depends on what you're looking for and what kind of a feel you want.

My parents were married there and we used to go back every year on their anniversary when we were kids. Their pictures are gorgeous, so many beautiful garden backgrounds to choose from. When thinking of wedding venues we looked into Wickham park, but the idea of having to rent everything steered us in another direction.

Thanks for your help - thats what we are wondering - b/c if we don't do Wickham we might do a 30 guest close fam only ceremony in a restaurant and then the next day a more casual bbq reception for all (100-150 ppl). That's why we thought maybe Wickham would be better since its covered, alcohol is allowed, and chairs and tables are provided. Thoughts?

I'm getting married at Wickham in the Cabin Garden this September. I actually liked being able to bring in all my vendors because I got to choose, they weren't chosen for me (I know a lot of venues have preferred vendors that you must choose from, and I just wasn't that comfortable with that). I felt like getting married at Wickham would allow me to have free reign over everything, and would also allow me to put as much of our personality and ourselves into it as we could. Rhonda at Wickham has been great to work with so far, you don't have to rent a tent, chairs or tables (which is a huge plus), and to top it off it's just really beautiful there.

Catering is costing us a good amount of money, I think all in all about $100/person. But that includes a huge, fresh grill station, an open top shelf bar, plus all waitstaff, bartenders, linens, plates, etc. Next to that, every other vendor has been pretty par for the course. The only thing we had to do was hire a day of coordinator, just because you only get Wickham from a set amout of hours that day, you can't come in the day before to set up. So we needed someone to set up centerpieces, decor, all that stuff.

Even though the wedding hasn't happened yet, I would definetly reccommend it. In the end, I honestly think it pretty much evens out compared to an all-inclusive venue. It all depends on what you want.

I was a BM in my friends' wedding - she had her ceremony at WIckham in the English Garden (I think that was the name of her area). It was lovely.

She had the reception at a banquet hall type place after.

The Bump ate my signature. DD - Apr 2011 DS - expected June 2013

I am having my wedding there on Oct 10th.  If you find the right caterer it can be really affordable.  I am using Melody's Creative Catering www.melodyscreativecatering.com and her prices are really great.  About 45 per person for stations and she includes linens and chiina for that price.  I am using a friend who is a bartender and just getting insurance so for a full bar it is about 1250 for 150 people.  You just have to look around and get deals but It can be done for less.  The cabin does come with tables, chairs and tent so that was a huge plus.
It is all about what you think is improtant.  I'm not really doing much decorating because I like the look of the cabin and the garden is beautiful so I don't see much work there.

Hi guys!  I am just wondering, what do you need to prepare to hold a wedding at Wickham Park?  I know that they only rent the venue, everything else you need to provide for yourself.  Do they need to approve who you bring in and is there anyone from the Park who will be at the wedding (not a coordinator, more like a "monitor"?) to make sure you don't trash the park? lol

I'm considering this place as one of the venues but because I am going to have to bring in everything myself I am wondering how any of are doing it.  Thanks!

We're getting married there next September! Has anyone seen the cabin garden at night with the track lighting? Is it too dark or just right, making for romantic mood lighting?

I'm just wondering if we should get some more lights to hang from the tent.
