Who walks me down the isle??

Hey Everyone,
I'm getting married on 8.3.13 and I'm facing somewhat of a dilemma: I don't know who to have walk me down the isle!  My grandfather has been THE father figure in my life so I originally chose him.  But now I'm starting to wonder if I should ask my mom.  She has worked so hard as a single mother to give me everything I could want growing up.  Do I have them both walk me down? Keep it somewhat traditional and have my grandfather walk me down? Or just my mom?  What do you think???

Re: Who walks me down the isle??

  • Nobody can answer this except for you.A bunch of internet strangers aren't going to have a clue as to who should walk you down the aisle.

  • Discuss this with your mom.
  • Up to you, but you could have both. Talk to your mom.

  • I would talk to your mom.  My father passed away five years ago and I was going to let either one of my brothers chose who wanted to walk down the aisle.  My mom got very hurt, she said "I raised you, not your brothers"  (my brothers and i share the same father, not the same mother).  I don't have a grandfather, but I realized I should've consulted with my mom first; your mother's feelings may get hurt, maybe they wont but I'd ask her first.  :)

Maybe your mom can walk you down the aisle and you and your grandfather can do the father/daughter dance?  Or you could have them both!  :)))

  • I think your mom deserves the honor. But if you have already asked your grandfather, ask both to escort you.

  • I agree with MairePoppy; it should be your mom walking you down the aisle. And it would be so nice to do the father/daughter dance with your grandfather. Here are some nice songs to dance to with your grandfather: "The times of your life" Paul Anka and a major tearjearker..Also the "Wind beneath my wings" by Bette Midler.

AND...if you want to dance with your mom..I have seen single moms and there daughters dance to: "You and me against the world" and "A song for Mama" by BoysIIMen

  • I've been to a couple of weddings where two people walked with the bride.
