Tip for photographer?

This has probably been asked a few times, but...how much tip should be given to the photog?  

We haven't tipped our photog yet, since we were rushed and didn't get it to them before they left (which is probably bad etiquette)...should a flat amount or percentage be applied?  Our photog actually voluntarily stayed until the end of our event (which was probably a few hours extra...didn't count exactly), so we want to give a good amount.  Thks!!  :)

    We are probably going to tip her a couple hundred. We actually aren't paying her anything. The trip to Hawaii is her payment. We paid for flight, hotel, and rental car for both her and her husband. We are going to cover meals on the wedding day for them, but the rest of the time they're on their vacation. We plan to give her a couple hundred after the fact as a tip to cover the cost of the album which was included in our package. I feel bad that she will be paying for it without any money to cover her costs. I think the tip will be dependent on the quality of the work.

    If you are really happy with the work it should be more. :)

    Generally the guidance is....if they own their own photo company, no tip. However if they work as part of someone else's company, then 10-20% is the most common. IMO staying extra hours at no charge is a great thing to tip for. How much would those extra hours have cost you? I would personally try to be in e ballpark to make up for their hourly rate. Eg, 3 hours at $150, I would tip no less than $300.

    Sorry for piggy backing onto this question, but do you guys also provide a meal for your photog on top of tip?

    I think you need to provide meals for all of your vendors who will be there for the reception.  My coordinator told me that any kind of dinner is fine, it doesn't have to be what the guests are getting. 

    For tips, as mentioned before, it depends on whether they own the company.
