Are you registering for fine china? If so, what pattern?

I never thought that I would be the type of bride who wanted fine china, but here I am all giddy about our pattern.

I originally thought we would just register for everyday dishes, but I fell in love with a Kate Spade pattern.  We love to entertain so I know we will get a lot of use out of it.  I am just worried about the price of it.  6 of our 12 place settings have already been purchased (I am pretty sure our parents have been stocking up on it).

Just thought I would check in with everyone else and see if they are registering for it, and if so, what is your pattern?

We're registered for everyday dishes from Crate&barrel, and our fine china is "Floral Illustrations" by Marchesa for Lenox. We found them at Bloomingdales. I was super excited to find our china, too :)
  • Opal Innocence Stripe by Lenox

  • I never though I'd ever be into fine china either! I always thought it was so old fashioned, but I was very wrong. Our everyday dishes are Fiesta. For our fine china, we did the Noritake Platinum Wave collection, including the flatware and stemware.

We are.  I picked out a pattern that I thought FI would like..  He didn't, it was a little "manly".  He picked out Mikasa Love Story.

A very girly antique pattern called "Moss Rose." I inherited most of a set from my great-grandmother. We registered at replacements.com to fill it out.

The day we went to Macy's to register for everything else, there was a couple that spent 4 hours just dealing with china, as far as we could tell. The groom wanted something very specific.
  • We registered for Waterford's Ballet Ribbon, and love it!  Can't wait to receive pieces.

Same for us, on both counts! :) We didn't register for any flatware, though, because my parents gave me a nice set a couple of years ago for Christmas.

Choosing Noritake was kind of a sentimental pick for me, because it is the brand that my mother has, and that her mother had.  I was so happy when I showed the Platinum Wave to my FI and he liked it too.

What color Fiesta did you pick?  We went with the chocolate.
  • We registered for Lenox Vintage Jewel and love it!

I love the Platinum Wave. It has the classic everlasting qualities that won't go out of style, but at the same time is kind of fun & a tiny bit modern. My FI loved it too.<div>
</div><div>I love lots of color, we we went with Tangerine & Turquioise for Fiesta. Looks like our guests didn't pick up on the fact that we like BOTH colors. Once one person bought something tangerine, everyone else bought tangerine also. It's ok, I'll buy a few turquoise pieces later to mix it up. It looks so beautiful against our light green walls :)</div>
  • We are registering for "everyday" fine china - basically bone china w/ platinum banding, but you can use it in the dishwasher (just not the microwave).

It's a Kate Spade pattern, Cypress point.  It's hard to see in photos, but it has an outer platinum band, and an inner, raised, white matte pattern.

  • JUST decided on our china today, and we're super excited about it.

Basically, the same pattern in two different color schemes.  It's pretty pricey, so we're registering for specific dishes instead of 5-pc place settings.  But, that's more practical anyway - who uses bread & butter plates these days?  And, the store I'm working with is great.  They discount eveything below typical department stores, will hold it all for me until after the wedding, and will let me 'reallocate' my gifts to round out what I actually get.  For example, if I get mostly salad plates, they will let me trade some in and use the money towards other pieces in the set.

  • We went with Waterford Padova.
