Repeat after me or not?

I was wondering if we should just repeat after the officiant or just say or vows from paper. I know I will be too nervous to remember them. We are writing our own vows so would it be funny to repeat after the officiant?

It may be a little late, but I agree with PP. FI and I are writing our own vows and then reading them from a paper.

If you're writing your own I think it looks more genuine and heartfelt if you read them off the paper. If your church/officiant requires you use a standard set of vows then it's fine to repeat what he gives you.
