Body Enhancements??

Not sure what to title this, but is any one else getting a boob job, tummy tuck, dental work, or other body enhancement before their wedding?

I have wanted boobs since I was in middle school...and have always said that I will get them before my wedding day. Well....that just might happen! I have an appt with the surgeon on July 9th for a consultation. I hope this is something I can swing before the wedding, I would be the happiest bride.

My second question is: has anyone had a breast augmentation and would like to share what they got (silicone or saline) and what size? Any other helpful information would be appreciated. :)

  • I thought about getting my teeth whitened, but I naturally have pretty white teeth anyways. I picture Ross from Friends with his blinding white teeth. I wish I could have boobs, but thats what the sewn in cups are for!

  • I always said I would get breast implants before my wedding. Then last year I lost about 50 lbs. I'm now very happy with my body and small breasts and wouldn't change a thing. I know some people who have done it though and love it. I might one day, after babies, to put things back where they belong per say.

If you think you and FI can swing it, I say go for it! (as long as things will "settle" to where they belong by wedding time).

    Good luck!

  • I'll probably get my teeth whitened since I'm not really happy with them now and my hair highlighted but nothing surgical.

  • I'm going to have my teeth whitened.  I had major dental surgery last summer and I told myself when the healing was done a year later I would get them whitened as a treat to myself.  Just happens to coincide with the wedding, which is nice!

  • Like the other ladies, I'll probably get my teeth whitened or use white strips. Maybe i'll get my hair dyed but nothing else.

I'm deathly afraid of surgery, so something optional is out of the question. I've never even considered a boob job...I'm pretty happy with my Cs.

  • The latest I can do it would be the end of next month to have enough time. I think. My friend got hers before her wedding and said she needed the 3 months to recover and for them to get in the right place.

  • i actually want to get laser eye surgrey trying to talk fi into getting me that as a wedding gift!!! i wore glasses since 5th grade than when i was 16 started wearing contacts but 3 years ago i started having tons of problems with my eyes always being irratated and bright red so back into glasses i went up until yestarday when i got a new  pair of contacts !! i am so excited!!! i hate how i look in glasses! i have no problem with glasses i think some people look good in them whoever i dont think i am one of them! and without some kinda correction to my vision i am blind as a bat!!!

a co worker got a boob job last summer and it took awhile for them to look normal! longer than 3 months!it looked like she was wearing an armour vest under her clothes so i would be really worried about doing it this close to my wedding esp with all wedding related activities bach party/ shower! Now they look great though! and one of my friends got hers done and hers looked good about 3 months after she got them! so hopefully if you do it you will recover quickly i dont know if recovery time has anything to do with age either my coworker was about 40 and my friend was about 25 when they had them done! good luck!
  • I really wanted to get a breast reduction before the wedding, but that's not going to happen.  I'm hoping I can get it done next year.  The only thing that I might do, like everyone else, is whiten my teeth.

I say go for it if the doctor assures you it's ok to move forward!

I've always wanted to get a breast augmentation before my wedding. That's not going to happen though. I would have liked to get the corrective eye surgery and will most likely get my teeth whitened... just have been waiting for a groupon to come out. Oh and I also wanted to do my upper lip (laser) but I think that I'm going to just have to do with wax. :(

  • I'm whitening my teeth at home with strips, other than that I would like to have eye laser surgery but I won't have the money.
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

  • Probably just whitening my teeth at home, i also set my 6 month cleaning 2 days before the wedding so i get all sparkly=)
I had lasik done back in March 2010 and it was totally worth it. I had to start wearing glasses in HS bc i couldnt see the board, my mom tries to tell me i ruined my eyes reading the closed captioning off my small tv in my bedroom at night, but who knows!!
im so glad i dont have to wear glasses/contacts anymore...

no other surgery for me, i mean i would love some lipo here and there, but thats bc ive lost 65 pds over so many years and no matter how much weights i lift things dont go back to where you want them=(
  • Does your dress have room to support larger breasts?

  • I would love to get bigger boobs! 3of my co-workers have had it done, and I'm jealous. I doubt I would ever have it done though, because like PP, I am horribly scared of surgery.

  • I have two more sessions of laser hair removal left for my legs, but I started that before we got engaged. I'm excited about not having to worry about shaving/waxing my legs! I think that's the only cosmetic procedure I'd ever even consider.

Those of you getting breast implants - are your fiances okay with it? Mine would NOT be cool with it at all! (Luckily, birth control has made it completely unnecessary for me...)
  • I wouldn't do anything surgical before your wedding unless it were medically necessary..  The wedding is enough stress (good or bad) that you don't want to deal with surgery.  I've had a number of medically necessary surgeries (5 that I can remember, 1 that I can't).  One was a breast reduction.  This was well worth the surgery because I was beginning to have back deformities and lots of pain, but it was very painful and took me a month to be able to wear normal clothes but months for me to settle into my new body.  Additionally, I have scarring that has faded over time.  Also, remember that although it is your body, your future husband is marrying you for who you are and maybe since it's an augmentation and not medically necessary, then you may not really need it.  Surgery isn't casual.  I have always worried whenever I get put under.  Anesthesia is some scary stuff.  That's just my two cents.  Good luck!

  • I have worked in the OR for over 6 years, and Anesthesia is the part that I am most worried about. The surgery is scary, but I know the surgeon is by far the best around. He is just amazing!! I am terrified of getting put under, but I have wanted this for so long that I am almost okay with it.

Someone had asked about my FI being okay with it, he is fine with it b/c it is something that I want and that will make me happier. He could care less he says, but I want them, so he is very supportive.

I would love to have laser eye surgery as well, but I am more afraid of that than a boob job. I have to see what is going on. I know I wont be able to handle that.

I will also be getting my teeth whitened. :)

  • I had a breast aug about 8 years ago and my advice, since your wedding is almost 3 months away, is to wait. They took  several weeks to drop and for the swelling/bruising to go down/away, not to mention you will have to have your dress altered. Also, there is no way to know the outcome. I had to have a second surgery because one was noticeably larger than the other, and I had one of the best surgeons in Miami. I have silicone gel impants filled with saline solution. I don't regret my implants at all, and if you want them I highly recommend you get them, but not this close to your wedding day. The last thing you want is to be unhappy or uncomfortable with how you look in your dress.

  • I really wanted to get a boob job before my wedding also, but I was worried with all of the wedding expenses if we'd be able to swing it, so I put it off.  Now as it gets closer to the wedding, I am waiting until later because I would want the time to recover and I don't want my boobs sitting up way high because I didn't give them enough time to recover and settle in.  So like others have said...maybe something to consider - are you really gonna have enough time for things to settle?  Also, what about alterations on your dress?

Maybe I will get mine done as a Christmas gift this year or next.  :)

  • I would wait.  There's always cups that can be sewn into your dress.  Everyone heals differently and although your friend took 3 months to heal, you could take longer.  I know people who have gotten implants and reductions and all of them took at least 2 months just for the swelling to go down.  My SIL's sister had a reduction in December and her swelling fully went down within the past month or 2.
