An Introduction

Hi girls (and guys), I'd just like to introduce myself. I sometimes venture to this board and lurk behind the shadows. My name is Andrea, but you can call me Mady if you like. My FI and I are getting married July 21st 2012 and we're very excited (as any couple should be). I'm a Born Again Christian and I feel like I'm losing my way. I feel really lost and empty and almost ata  adead end.  Fi and I are new to our city and don't belong to any church, which may be part of the problem.  I feel like I just need some encouragment and guidance.  I pray all the time and I just need a change.
I'm looking forward to meeting some of you and exchanging ideas and helping one another.

Hi Mady! Welcome to the board! I promise you will love this board- the girls are very nice and encouraging and we pray for each other a lot! I am so sorry about how you are feeling. Life can be tough and sometimes we feel sad or lost. Just know that God is always with you and everything is a part of His plan. We don't always understand it, but it's always for His good. Is your FI a Christian too? Praying for each other and praying together will help! Also, you're right, getting into a good church will definitely lift your spirits! Not only will you then be able to attend services, but maybe you can get involved in a women's group or a couples group and make some new friends! There are definitely books out there to help (although I don't know as many books as a lot of the other girls on here- maybe they will jump in with some suggestions!) Anyway, keep your head up, girl! I will say a prayer for you!

As Ash said, keep your head up and remember that God has a plan for each one of us.

Since you're new to the area, start researching churches in your area and just pick different ones to "test drive" until you find one you feel you belong in. I would try out ones similar to your "home church" (if you have such a thing) and ones that are different. You never know what may bring you closer to Him until you try it out.

Thx girls. Yea back home I belonged to a Pentecostal Church and loved it. We've been in this city for over 6 months and I've attended the 2 pentecostal churches that I know about but just dont feel like i fit in. In one of the churches the people were actually a little snobby and not welcoming at all. The other, I just felt out of place. I guess its just me being insecure due to a new "environment".
I think maybe I'll just ahve to check out different churches.

Congrats and welcome! DH and I have felt like that before. We moved down south a little less than a year ago and we still haven't found a church yet that we can call home. Sometimes it takes a while, but just start visiting new churches each week and see which ones you like best.

Welcome to the board!  I'll pray for you.  The other ladies shared some great advice with you.  Just keep remembering that God is there when you're ready to lean on Him.

welcome to the board! i am excited to get to you know more and hear more of your wedding plans. i will be praying for you.

Remember that God is always there for you and you can talk to him at anytime. Maybe you and your FI can do a devotional together and listen to worship music -- while you are looking for churches. FI and i are in the middle of looking for a new church too... so we try our best to pray for eachother, read our bibles together, and worship during the week. it does help.

Again welcome and congrats on getting married next year! (:

Hi and welcome.  DH and I recently switched churches and it took us about a year to find our church home.  Don't give up!  When you visit churches, try to connect with people in the church by signing up for a small group if they offer them.  That is the best way I've found of getting to know people. It isn't easy.  Hang in there.

I'll be praying for you and your FI as you look for a new church. I know how rough that can be.
