My Bridesmaids are living in different states!

I would like to just pick a color and length of dress and have all my girls pick the style of dress that they feel the most comfortable in.  However my girls all live in different states and those in the same state live on different sides!  Does anyone know of a chain store besides David's Bridal where I could check out bridesmaid dresses?  I would like for the dresses to be purple but I hate the colors that David's Bridal has available.

  • Alfred Angelo and JCrew are the two that come to mind.

Did you look at the DB colors in person or just online?  I found their colors differed dramatically from what they looked like online.

A word of warning from your friends at Cracked.com: Remember that text is going to be how you make your first impression over the internet; if every third word you type is misspelled, people will automatically assume that you're a moron.
  • If you pick a designer like Alfred Angelo, Dessy, Watters, etc., they can go to salons in their area that carry these designers and try things on to select their styles.

My BMs' dresses were from AnnTaylor.com and they have some nice stuff available, in my opinion. They run frequent 30-40% off sales, so my BMs paid $129 for a normally $200+ dress. And they had three styles (same fabric, color, length) to choose from. A lot of people go this route through JCrew.com as well.

  • Alfred Angelo.  But really, you could just choose a line and call up bridal shops in their area to see if someone carries the line.  Or they could just try on dresses at David's or another bridal shop that have similar cuts (there are only so many general shapes/cuts of BM dresses) and order online from RK Bridal, Pearl's Place, Jay's Bridal or Net Bride.
  • My BM's live in different countries.  So, I went with DB.  At least my BM in France can order it to be shipped to her.
  • Some Macys and Nordstroms locations also carry all of these designers and others, if your friends live by those stores that might be an easy option! Good luck
  • Ditto that the colors look far different in person than on a monitor.  You should stop into the store to see the fabric swatches, or see if you can order them, before you make a decision.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
