Driving Myself crazing trying to pick a date!!!

We are getting Married in Odenton MD. We want an outdoor ceremony and our reception will be fluid between the in and outdoor seating areas. I just want to pick a date that the weather is supposed to be nice (Not too hot or Cold) I'm not from the Area originally  so it's proving to be more difficult.

I know at the end of the day ANYTHING can happen and that's okay I'm just looking for any advice on choosing a good date so that I can get started on everything else!! Here are the dates I have been looking at but I am open to ANY sunday between August and October-

21 August-  Date works out to be a special number to us
18 Sept- was the first date I wanted for us (that date that just came to me)
9 October - The 10th is a Holiday so people really wouldn't have to take any time off of work

I even bought the farmers Almanac for our area! Anyone who is more familiar with the area any advice is much appreciated!!

Re: Driving Myself crazing trying to pick a date!!!

  • What time of day do you want to have your wedding?

That's important in that obviously in the morning & evening, it will be cooler than it would be around noon. Also, if you're having your wedding on a Sunday evening, and people are traveling, then they'll probably have to take off work, unless it's on 10/09...

To me, October looks like it will be too cold, but then, I'm used to the heat. XD

  • I wouldn't necessarily go by the farmer's almanac alone.  I went with historical trends (just another way of doing the same thing).  So I went back through the historic weather records for the various possible wedding weekends and took the one that looked the best to me from the past

Things like thunderstorms you can't predict (until like 1 day in advance) so I would go with the overall daily highs and lows and find the best range for the way you want your day to play out.
  • I agree with SpookieCat.  The farmer's almanac is not always accurate.

My sister got married July 18th, 2009 and choose that date b/c she wanted a warm, sunny, summer day and according to the farmer's almanac it was supposed to be 81 and sunny....well it ended up being a high of 70, overcast and drizzly.

However, we got married in the same town this year, 10/16/10.  We didn't even look at an almanac (it was our 11 yr dating anniversary so the date was pretty much instantly decided).  Weather.com said the average high for the day was 64...and it ended up being 77 and sunny, the perfect day for an outdoor wedding.

    Honestly, you never know!
