IS IT JUST ME....HELP?!

Hi ya Knots...

So i am finding myself in a real dilemma!! So I have toured 6 venues and I am unsure about all of them for various reasons but there is one I am possibly thinking about booking. I really loved OCCASSIONS AT STONE RIVER in Royse City. There property was so beautiful and the venue itself was absolutely gorgeous. My problem is that I'm not sure if they are over priced or that I am getting my money's worth for what they offer.

Please if anyone had/will there wedding at this venue, PLEASE I really need some advice!

Thanks,

Confused

  • I considered them and truly, for what they offer, I think they are overpriced :/ but maybe they have steep discounts for off season? That's one reason we considered The Castle on the Lake so heavily. They offer SO much at a crazy discount for Jan./Feb. weddings. The coordinator, Britian, is incredible!! It is in Jacksonville, not sure if distance is a factor.

I think it's an OK deal simply because they include your cake, appetizers and decor--you essentially don't need a cake vendor or centerpieces.  It's all-inclusive, and comes with chivari chairs and lighting which is something you often have to pay for.  The $13.95 upcharge is a ripoff though IMO.  It basically comes out to around $65/pp if you go with the most expensive food package, which is what I paid for my hotel wedding--but I also had to provide my own centerpieces and cake and didn't have lighting.  Of course, the ceremony charge is additional (my hotel waived mine).  The service charge of 15% is lower (I paid 20% for example).

It's an all-inclusive venue which you are always going to pay more for.  My problem with places like this is all the upcharging--that drives me crazy when they want to nickel and dime you for every little thing.  I would also prefer to bring in my own cake and decor to suit my own taste.  You just have to weigh the pros with the cons just like with any venue.  If there's more that you like about it than not and it's in your budget, then it's a good choice for you.  If I remember correctly, it is BYOB which could provide you some savings.
  • I also think they are totally overpriced.  You can find better deals in the area.
