Where was your rehearsal dinner?

I was curious as to the kind of venues people have chosen for their rehearsal dinner. Also, I know that as far as custom, the grooms family is responsible for this. Did you tell them places you preferred or did you leave it up to them?

Re: Where was your rehearsal dinner?

  • My husband's parents took care of it.  We had it at The Dorrance in Providence.  It was amazing.
  • We handled everything.  My inlaws are from Florida and are way too cheap.  We wanted a nice meal for our rehearsal dinner.  We held it at the 1149 restaurant at the Warwick East Greenwich line.    We had a small private room and great food.  They were very nice to work with.
  • Ours was held at our house with B & M Clambake doing the catering.  We wanted to include as many OOT guests as possible and knew that we couldn't do one at a restaurant for 60+ people for a reasonable price.  It worked out perfectly at our house.  We took care of everything.  H's parents contributed money toward the overall cost of the wedding.  It wasn't specifically put aside for the RD.

  • My fiance's parents are hosting our rehersal dinner at Sardella's in Newport.  They were open to our suggestions, but I really wanted them to do what they liked.  I'm just so grateful that they are helping out.  I've been there before for a rehersal dinner and the food was amazing!

  • We had ours at Coast Guard house on the upstairs deck. It orked out really well.I planned the entire thing and fiance's parents didn't end up offering any money. However, his aunt and uncle offered to pay for it to help out his parents. His aunt wanted to be more like a"silent partner" so we didin't say anything to anoyone about them hosting it.
  • We had our rehearsal dinner at Mews tavern, it was pretty awesome!

  • Thanks girls! Wow all of you had different ideas and all must have been very nice! Did most of you just invite your bridal party and parents to the RD?
  • We had ours at Twist in Warwick. We just did bridal party, parents and readers.

  • W did bridal party, parents, readers ,and then a few OOT guests came that were family for my husband- his parents invited them even though they weren't originally on the list- but it worked out fine and was only an extra 5 people. We also invited the weedding coordinator and she came.
  • Sardella's in Newport ... mmm

I agree with a PP , very accommodating.
