Recs needed: mani/pedi/eyebrow/eyelash spa

HI Ladies!  Hope the planning is going well :-D

So, I am looking for a one stop shop for my mani/pedi, eyebrows, eyelashes (possibly extensions) and maybe even a massage or facial depending on my mood (and funds) to have done a day or 2 before the wedding.

I just had a really bad experience at a place in DC that burned my face and left a ridiculous amount of glue in my eyelashes...so I am looking for places that are a bit more professional but with a reasonable price tag (as reasonable as possible considering we are in DC).

Any recs for a place like this? Thanks!

I don't have a place that has all that... but, there is a place - Golden Nails on 7th and F in Penn Quarter that does mani/pedi and eyebrow wax for $48. I would do those there (ask for Thu - "two"!!! make an appointment!) and then do the other stuff somewhere else higher end.

The place isn't fancy, but they do a wonderful job and I've had nothing but great experiences there (with Thu, hah).

I have never been, but I hear Red Door Spas are nice and I think they have all that....

I have facials, mani/pedi, massages at the Willard Red Door.  I've been to the one in Friendship Heights also, and they are all wonderful!  The one in Friendship Heights has all the services (hair, eyebrows, make-up, massages, etc.) a bride would need.  When I am there, it seems like their eyebrow specialists are always busy, as well as their make-up artists.  I've also had facials and massages at Andre Chreky (they are doing my hair for the wedding), and they have a well-recommended eyebrow person.

Unfortunately, Red Door and Andre Chreky are rather pricey, but I haven't received a bad service yet.  You might want to check out the Washingtonian for their recommendations.  They have a Spa Finder on their website.

My understanding is that you shouldn't get a facial the day before your wedding...especially if it is your first facial.  talk with experts before you do this.  You could have an unexpected reaction.

Kim, that is a good point.  I am definitely going to do all of these things 2 days before the wedding, not the day of, esp. considering the way things turned out last time.  I probably will forego a facial, but I may want a massage.

    thanks for the recs Ladies!

Carl Ray, who does make-up out of George Salon at the Four Seasons and is quite popular for booking wedding day make-up (as well as for many fashion shoots), recommends staying away from waxing or anything like that (e.g. facials) the month of your wedding.

I'm planning on doing a massage the morning of my wedding to help start off my day relaxed.

    Hey Tyresec,

I thought I mentioned to you a while back that my cousin is an licensed estititian (sp).  She doesnt do Mani's or Pedi's but she does do Facial, waxing, threading, makeup, airbrush makeup, eyelashes ect. and specializes in skincare.  You can contact her at justfaceitdani at gmail.com

or if you email me I can give you her phone number
    crystalis77 at gmail.com

She teaches at Aveda Institute but works out of her home in Mitchellville.  I highly recommend her not just because I am her cousin.

Hey Crystal, Thanks for the info!  Does she have a website?

Maybe threading for the eyebrows then...I didn't think about that, but that sounds like a better idea than waxing.  Thanks for the advice.
