Local DJs

does anyone have any suggestions for affordable ($500-700) and non-cheesy DJs in the area?

We are using Buckeye Entertainment. Very reasonable price and nice guys! They have great reviews, too :) they book fast though... So I'd content asap if you are interested!

I'm using Ryan Smith. He has a flat fee of $750- a little over your budget, but for that you get however many hours you need, plus multiple set-ups if you need it (he's setting up two systems for me, one for the ceremony and one for the reception). Great deal, nice guy, and he is not cheesy at all!

MAC23 Productions/DJ Daniel Custer is in that price range.  He's been great to work with! His contact info is on his facebook page: http://on.fb.me/qFcZZN

We are meeting with Buckeye Entertainment tonight, actually.  If all goes well, I hope to book with them :-)

Also, I went to a wedding two or three weeks ago where MAC23 dj'ed, and they did a GREAT job.  Everyone was on the dance floor the entire night.  My friend did tell me, however, that he was TERRIBLE with communication.  They called/emailed him 5 or 6 times in the couple of months leading up the wedding and they literally did not hear a word back from him until 2 weeks before.

We're using Kurtus Nichols with K-Sound. He has all fives on Wedding Wire and was highly recommended by my venue. He does book early so contact him ASAP if interested.

My friend is a wedding photographer and recommended Night Magic. I'm not sure what their prices are but she said they are very professional and always get the guests into it.

We're using Donald Moss of Noni 903 DJ Services.  He's actually the spouse of my wedding planner but he has his own dj business.  He charges $100 p/hour for the first 3 hours but if you book more than 3 hours the prices changes to only $85 an hour.  Just message me if you're interested in his contact info.
