SO! There has been this weird telephone thingy going on between those guys, one of their brothers, FI, and me. As in, apparently they've been talking to the brother, who's been talking to FI, instead of directly responding to me! It's really sort of childish and well, stupid.
I don't talk to FI about sewing projects except his own. I find it distracting and I don't want our time together to be about work. So he's getting super PO'd that the brother keeps bugging him, and I'm super PO'd that nobody is talking to me and they're PO'd that they don't have their stuff.
So, I get a message (through the kindergarten telephone) the day before they decide that they want them this time instead. I have to work all day that day, the next and part of the next day. So I tell FI I can bring them to them the next day but they won't be ready on that day. He tells the brother to not plan on getting them, which is not what I said at ALL but whatever. So I spend probably 16 hours or more over the weekend (which is longer tan I thought it would take) working on them and doing all of the finishing work on them and I'm still waiting for a response about this *final* piece I need to do, which is a design for an applique design for one of them.
Well today, I get a message from a different guy out of the group who says they want to cancel their order but they'll compensate me for what I've bought and any work I've done thusfar. Apparently they don't talk to one another because I'd already told the guy that commissioned the order that I would only charge them cost for the inconvenience. /headdesk
I'm sort of whatever at this point. I sent a message back saying I was still waiting for a response from person #1, I talked about how things obviously got lost in translation with the telephone and I wish someone would have told me directly. I told them the last I'd heard was that they were commissioning seamstress #2 to make them and then I got asked if they would be done the day before the event. I also told him they're sewn, trimmed, and laundered and need a quick press and the applique which I was waiting for specs on from person #1. If they really don't want them at this point then I don't really care. They can keep their money and I'll use the fabric for something else. This whole thing is stupid and ridiculous and it will probably be another 2 years before I agree to do anything for a friend again.
