the photographers I've met with say they provide the cards and put them on the tables or near the favors or something.  They are cards with the photographer's site and instuructions for viewing the photos they took.  I think it benefits them in case any of your family or friends see pics they like and want to order them through the photog. They say they are part of the "package", but really it shouldn't cost you anything extra since it's a promotion for them.

Yes, as PP mentioned your official photographer may provide guests with information on how guests can view and purchase the professional photos taken at the wedding.

If you are referring to photo sharing as relating to guests sharing the photos they have taken, then yes you will have to set up a website and provide guests with the information about that site.

For cards a lot of ladies have used Vistaprint free business cards to share their website information. If you register your email with Vistaprint, they will continually send you freebie emails.

For websites the choices are quite broad. I personally used winkflash.com and was very happy. I created a log in using our first names and the username and "wedding" as the password. On my photoshare card I put down the website address, username, password and general directions. I asked guests to log in and create a new folder on the site then upload their photos. If they saw photos they enjoyed that other guests took to right click and save them on their home computer.

I'm not sure if any other photographers are doing this but what i do is create a gallery before her wedding and give her the url. Its a gallery where friends and family can go and download the high resolution photos FOR FREE!!! So some brides have put the url on 'thank-you' cards for all the guests so its like a little gift to everyone. Poeple LOVE it!!

I printed cards on vistaprint for our photo sharing website.
I then wrote hugs & kisses & put hersey kisses on them as part of our giveaways.
I am using knotpic.com.  The pictures are instantly uploaded by emailing them to an email created through the site & then go into a communial album.  You get a unique web address for your guests to go on to look at everyone elses posted pictures.
I also posted pictures on my site from my shower & plan to put my honeymoon picutres on there for everyone to see.  The nice thing about this site is people dont need a unique username & password to get into the site like many other sites (kodak, photobucket, snapfish etc).  I thought of making an account & password on one of these sites & giving the info to everyone to use but then they have the power to edit or erase pictures you make like but they dont.  You get your own username & password so you can edit the photos.
