MOH Gifts

I know that other people have asked advice for gifts, and many haven't even given details to help out with their problems, making it hard for everyone to make suggestions. So here's my deal:

I'm stumped on what an original, personal gift idea would be for my MOH. I have known her since we were in high school. We watch movies together a lot (she loves movies) and she is also making my wedding cake (she is a professional baker/wedding cake maker). She is already married and I was her MOH as well. She has a great sense of humor and also has a husky she loves. She loves baking, but I feel like getting her cookware is out because she already has everything from her wedding! What do you all think? I know I just don't want to do "apparel for the wedding" because that's pretty lame and I want to get her something personal she would like or be able to use.

Also- do you think that gift cards are impersonal or not good enough for a gift? I saw other people had given gift cards but I feel like I wouldn't know how much to put on it or where to get it from. Any yeah- I have over a year to go so I'm asking this early I know- I just was fishing for ideas is all. (I like to plan ahead and think of possible problems ahead of tims so that when the time comes I'm not totally stumped.)

Re: MOH Gifts

  • you could do a gift basket with a movie theme... put like popcorn, soda, movie theater candy, a movie or two she doesn't have, if she has a movie she absolutely loves get memoribla for it, then get her a subscription to netflix.

Or you could do a scrapbook or get her started on a scrapbook for the two of you.

Gift Cards / cash - I love gift cards... I love to get them for people... it makes it so easy for them all they have to do is go out or order online the stuff they actually want or need. I love getting the Visa prepaid gift cards you can use anywhere or just giving cash.

[QUOTE]This might be a dumb suggestion but what about in addition to a gift card, a recipe and the ingredients to make dog treats?  Since she likes to cook and has a dog.

  • I like the movie basket idea. You could add a small gift card to a local movie theatre too if you don't know what movies she doesn't have or would like to have. I think you could make that super cute!

If she would appreciate something sentimental, I stood as my matron of honor's maid of honor and I took a wallet size picture of us from her wedding, made a wallet size copy and put it in a 5 x 7 frame with a mat cut to fit the frame with two wallet size openings.  I put the picture of us from her wedding on one side and on the other side I put an IOU for a picture of us from my wedding...which I am about to fulfill now that I got my pictures back and she is very excited!  If you want to be extra sentimental you can put scrapbook sticker numbers on the mat to note the wedding date by each picture.  After purchasing a frame from TJ Maxx and getting the mat and the prints from a good camera store, I think I spent about $20 so I put a lot of thought into it but it wasn't expensive.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • I found this from etsy.com that I'm going to get for my MOH. I think it's personal and great for all occassions. There are other styles as well.

  • Tons of cute unique gift ideas! check out http://www.etsy.com/shop/moonstonecreation. it is such a cute shop with tons of handstamped jewelry, bottle openers, military related jewelry, keychains, cufflinks, etc... Makes great wedding gifts for bridesmaids & groomsmen. I really like the key chain with a MOH quote hand stamped.
