Plus-Sized

Plus size dresses

I'm having a hard time finding a dress. I'm a plus size woman, but my body is misporportioned. I am roughly a size 38-40 B in bras, but a 26-28 in jeans (US size of course). My friend reccommended a corested top to help make it so it's tighter in the bust area. I'm not quite sure. My FI and I have decided to have a camouflage wedding, which is making it incredibly hard to find a dress that's got camo in with along with my size requirements. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I just saw a web site camoformal.com I hope that helps!

It might be easier to look for a plain white dress that fits your body exactly how you want it to and then get the camo altered in.  You'd be able to customize it to your liking and ensure a proper fit.  Good Luck

  • Thanks ladies for your ideas! I have already checked out camoformal. nd the dresses are expensive I think i might have to conform to that. Any ladies have the same issue with being bigger on bottom and smaller on top? Advice?

  • I am getting my gown through mygowns.com-its an online company based in New Jersey. They don't have any camo gowns, but their gowns range from 500.00-600.00, plus they do custom measurements. They have been very accommodating and helpful :) I am a very plus-sized bride in the bust/hip area so it was difficult to find a gown that could be customized to my size, plus I needed it down quickly....this company worked very nicely with me. However, you could also email them and ask if they could add some embellishment that you would like too.
As someone suggested, you may have an easier time of finding a gown if you look at plainer gowns and added the camo embellishments...shoes, hair piece, ribbons, etc. Good Luck!
  • I wear a pant size 20/22.  My dress is a 16W.  It is an A line, so the hip measurement is more of a free measurement (to an extent).  Even so, I still had to get the bodice taken in at the side seams (I wear a 36C).

I don't think you will find a dress that fits perfectly without alterations.  So find a dress you love and order the size you need to fit your largest measurement.  Then, like 6 weeks out from the wedding, get it altered to fit correctly.  When you go to the store to find dresses, they can clip the top if it is too loose so you can see what it looks like when fitted.  Some tops will be easier (less expensive) to alter than others, so try to keep that in mind when choosing your dress

I don't know about finding a camo dress, but you can definitely add camouflage elements if you want to.

  • The way it is looking, I will have too settle.

  • Have you considered just having a plain white dress and having camo accents?  Like, shoes, or maybe wrap your bouquet stems in a camo bouquet holder?   Maybe even make a flower for your hair out of camo material?

I think it will look much more "bridal" if you have a white/ivory gown, but can still get a feel for who you and your fiance area by adding the camo touches.
