    Are you working today?

    I have 49 people (half are kids 12 and under) for a priate treasure hunt.  I get to dress up as a priate and take them to a deserted island to look for treasure.  Then they go snorkeling.   By the end of the trip the kids are all sugared up and I have a headache. 

    Oh and I looks like it's going to rain.  Fun times ahead for me today.






    What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

    And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

    I get to spend the evening with my polish Baba...though I love her dearly, she does really nothing but whine all.the.time. She whines that I never call her, but I do call her, a lot - but because we didn't have a house phone until last week, she won't answer if she doesn't recognize the name on the call display. My name doesn't show up, but the number does.

    The one nice thing about working all week this week and next week is the ability to avoid drama like this.

    Good morning and Merry Christmas Eve all! :)

    I'm working... all day until 4:30.  Boo!  Although, by working, I'm sure I mean wasting time for 9 hours until I can go home.  Then to dinner with my parents tonight while FI heads home for 2 days. 

    Would be better/easier if my boss wasn't here, though.

    I should be grateful that I get to spend this time with her, she's 81, and going down hill very quickly...so obviously there aren't too many Christmasses left in our future, but still. I can't help but dread some of it.

    Morning everyone!  We always do a small xmas eve thing, so I'm looking forward to that.  I really can't wait for the weekend though - we have awesome things planned for Sat and Sun with family, so I'm psyched.

    I can't believe people have to work today!  I don't get many perks being a teacher, but the time off and set holidays is a huge one.  I hope you all have easy days that go by fast!

    Morning! I'm excited. DH has to work (hopefully an early day) and I'm baking and decorating cookies. Tonight is our first annual gingerbread house challenge. Michael's has them for $7.99 so we're going to have a decorating contest. DH keeps saying "and the secret ingredient is.... giiiiiiiiiingaaaabreeeeeeeead!" like the Chairman from Iron Chef. The smack talk is heating up at Kitchen Stadium and on facebook. It's going to be fun!

    Yeah, I'm taking off probably around noon. But actually, going on vacation last week was a great idea. I actually don't have any qualms about working this week, plus with people away and statutory holidays this week and next, I'm not really "working" much anyway :)

    I was supposed to get 3 holidays this season: December 25, December 31, Jan 1.  I doubt I'll get any of them.

    I am about 2 seconds away from strangling the next friend that calls me and says "UGH!  I can't believe I only get a week.  So and so gets a week and a half...."

    betrothed, that sucks. My husband was thrilled that he got Christmas Day and either the 24th or 26th off. Of course he has to work NYE. That's one of the biggest nights in the restaurant business.

    Good morning to everyone, and a wonderful Christmas Eve. I need to make the lemon curd and gingerbread for the trifle tomorrow, but other than that, I'm pretty well prepared for tomorrow.

    I dont know what it is about today, but it just feels exciting. Christmas is my favourite day of the year and I think christmas eve is my 2nd favourite. Merry christmas (eve) to everyone!!
