Saturday night

I hope there isn't a thread going on that I can't see. I'm doing tickets at H's game. I can't wait for halftime so I can go watch. The scout is here so I'm a little on edge. How is everyone's weekend going?

Re: Saturday night

  • Oh I hate when there is a ton of turbulence. Did you have a good trip otherwise?

    Hi ladies.

Brandi I hope your H lights it up and gets drafted onto the Detroit Lions.

I just made a mahi-mahi burger and tried to make a homemade spread for it. It actually turned out okay. I'm watching Chopped and reading. I'm enjoying my H-less weekend a lot lol I feel a little bad (eh okay not really).

I decided that I want to join a sports league of sorts or pick up a hobby or take a class or something. Anyone try something new and love it? I'm bored with life a little.

  • Lol I don't care what team he gets drafted to! He would be happy with being on a practice squad. It's a good game so far, we are winning 17 to 0.

  • acaponi - I love Ultimate Frisbee!  There is a great league here and lots of people learn to play in their 20s.  I also learned to knit while on bed-rest with my pregnancy; I enjoy that quite a bit.

I had my company picnic today and it was really nice.  They had great food, games, prizes, and a bouncy house and water slide for the kids.  I wish I could have stayed longer, but Greggers was ready for bed.

  • Other things that I like, but don't have either the time or money to fully invest myself in: ballroom dance, zumba, rock climbing, biking, hiking, baking bread for scratch, decorating cakes, making cards, softball, sewing...

  • Ultimate is a good one that I forgot about! I played a good amount of it in college.  I'd love to scrapbook but I don't have any patience or creativity. I'm struggling to make a photobook online for our parents :(

I knitted a little bit before. I never figured out how to cast on or off on my own but I bet if I tried hard enough I could figure it out. Thanks for the ideas! Hopefully I can find something that gets me out of the house. I don't have any friends down here since we're gone so much :( I  need a social life again.

  • Deciding to de lurk and say hello!

I stayed in tonight to make sure my dog didn’t lose it over a fireworks show across the street. But he was fine as can be with fireworks close enough to shake the house. Apparently, just the ones far off scare him to death. Weirdo.

Acoponi- have you thought about picking up an instrument? I’ve been bored as can be lately and am thinking about trying the guitar because we already have one.

  • knittinghelp.com  - lifesaver!  I can never follow the silly drawings in books, but this website has videos.

  • YellowB - What kind of dog do you have?  When are you getting married?
imageBaby Birthday Ticker Ticker Follow Me on Pinterest
  • He's a border collie mix.

I've been married for eight months, but I've lurked a little bit on and off since planning. Never posted, but created a new SN tonight as my other one had my name in it.

Hi Yellow. Welcome to life outside of lurkdom!

We had that problem in our old apartment (H plays) and he had to plug into an amp with headphones. Now we have a basement so he's lucky to play all he wants!

    Bless you.
People say it takes a certain type of person to be a teacher. Well I am a firm believer it takes a very, very special kind of person to do elementary. Gimme 5th-12th graders and I'm good. I'll take 100 of them with instruments. But you give me 25 2nd graders and I'm near tears within an hour lol. And I'm sick for the next 2 weeks.

Food: Changes all the time. Currently I'm digging Ben and Jerry's red velvet cake ice cream

Best place visited: Hm. I'm not as well traveled as I'd like to be, but I've moved around a lot. I'd say FL. I went there for a school trip in high school.

    Bouquet: Yup! Thank you!

CT: I've only been here about five months, but so far I like it!

And I always say it takes a special person to do secondary! I've only student taught, we've moved states a couple times and around here it's hard to get an elem. job, but I loved it! Do you teach band, orchestra, or something different?

  • I'm so sorry, Edie.

  • I don't know you, but I'm so sorry. I still remember how heartbreaking it was when we made the decision to put our family dog to sleep years ago.

I did my student teaching and my 1st year of teaching in band. I sub for orchestra sometimes now and I enjoy that, I'm just better with wind instruments haha.

    Where are you orginally from?

My dad's military so not one place in particular, but I usually claim Virginia (I was there middle school through college).

I did orchestra from 4th grade through HS and was too chicken to audition at the university level. I still regret it. I have crazy respect for music teachers, being able to play all those instruments and even teach the ones you don't play boggles my mind.

  • Edie, I'm so sorry honey : Big hugs. Its so hard to say goodbye, but she won't have to suffer which is comforting.
