Yacht Receptions- Need some help!

Hi there-

My fiance and I are researching some yachts in Los Angeles/South Bay/Long Beach areas just for the reception, since we already have a ceremony location.  Any advice on how to negotiate prices with these people, or any other tips?  Trying to do this on a budget (although I know a yacht isn't exactly cheap), but would love any advice.  Thanks!

    Fantasy Yachts is the way to go. My friend just got married there a month ago and it was super affordable and all inclusive! She did the ceremony there as well. Buffet dinner, beer, wine, coctails, sodas all included. She even had a photo booth. It was beautiful! Only thing was that it was a pretty short length of time.

    I thought I wanted a Yacht reception too until I went to one in Newport Beach. Parking was a problem of course on a Saturday afternoon. And everyone had to pay for parking. The Yachts were lined up in a row and you stood and watched and waited as every Yacht loaded with their wedding group as our bride had told everyone it was an hour earlier than it actually was. Seemed like an assembly line to me. The boat was crowded with people, too many for the space. You have to go downstairs to get your food, then crowd into tiny reception area that was ceremony area with rearranged plastic chairs, back upstairs to eat.  When it came time to dance some people lost their tables & chairs completely and there was no place to stand even to see what was going on.  The boat only stayed by the shore, never really approached the ocean at all.  The evening ended at 10PM promptly.  Was glad.  Just make sure you attend one of these weddings to see if that's what you really want.

    I'm entertaining my guests at a marina restaurant, ocean view and much better food.  Much less costly too.

    This seems like it was more of a planning issue by the bride. She told people to arrive an hour early, then didn't have enough room for tables for everyone AND a dance floor?

    I agree with mery here. I think it had more to do with poor planning from the bride rather the actual yacht company based on what you wrote.

    my girlfrined just had the ceremony only on a yacht and only went with ordorvors and we met at a local restaurant for some prepared food that they rented a room for.

    they also used a local photographer, www.goesphotography.com and he worked with their budget.
