No, it's not Halloween, but one of my (many) costumes for my upcoming dance show is done. This one is to play Anita for "America" from West Side Story.
I was originally going to buy a dress, but I decided instead of paying $100, I could pay $30 and make my own. It used a Butterick Retro pattern that said it was easy, and it was. The only challenge was that I'm paranoid and cut the pattern way too big and then had to make it smaller again. It's still a little big, but since the fabric doesn't stretch, I thought it would be easier to dance in.
The petticoat is store-bought, as I already had it. Sorry about the bad photo. It's the best I could get using self-timer and propping my camera on the mantel.
