How many people per table?

My reception venue has 60" and 72" tables. The information they gave me says that 8-9 people can fit at the 60", and 10-11 people can fit at the 72".

What size tables are you using and how many people are you putting at each? I'm worried if I do 9 and 11, the tables will be crowded and people will be uncomfortable. But I'm ending up with a lot of odd numbers due to singles, and I don't want to separate them from people they know just to even out the tables.

It's really hard to determine without seeing the table and the place settings on it. I was at a wedding last weekend with 10 people at the table and it seemed perfect, but I don't know what size the table was.

We had 10 people at our 72 inch tables. A few tables had 8 or 9 and one had 12 (but it also had kids.)

I am doing 60 inch rounds with 8 people per table!

We plan to do 60 inch rounds with 8 people per table. Since we (hopefully) will have about 100 peole, we wanted to the room to look full, so we'll have more tables.

Our venue uses 60" tables with 8pp max. However, the coordinator advised 7pp per table would be more comfortable, so we're going w/ 7 or even 6 for some of them.

Ugh, this is why I'm stressing about it! There is no standard answer. Our coordinator at the PAA says that 9 at a 60" and 11 at a 72" will be fine, but when I googled it I found all different answers. Punk - your coordinator saying 8 at a 60" wlill be tight makes me worried! I just wish I could see it in person...

I *think* we had 60 in. tables with either 6 or 8 people per table. I had a small wedding (~87 total guests), so there was plenty of space for seating guests. Can a BM or your parents go and see the venue again to better judge the number per table? Maybe they could take some pics for you...I can't remember, have you seen the venue in person? HTH some!

If this means anything at all... the chairs at the venue are from the 70's, I think, haha.. The backs are very wide. That might be why they suggested 7.

There's 8 in this picture, but they were having an event with boyscouts that day.

I believe that I was told that a 60 inch table CAN fit up to 10 but that 8 is more comfortable!

Thanks for the advice! I've seen the venue in person twice, but of course when I went I was just looking at the big picture and not the details (it was even set up for a wedding - I wish I had counted chairs!). I may ask my mom if she can go down this weekend to take a look. I think they'd let her in Saturday morning, since there will probably be a wedding reception set up. Punk - thanks for the photo, that helps a lot. Our chairs are a lot smaller (chiavari charis), so I think we could do 8 or 9 at a 60".

It really depends on the type of chairs and how close the tables are together. Having planned a few conferences, 11 people at a 72in table can be tight, especially after all of the plates, cups, silverware etc are placed.

If the chairs are large (like punk showed) I would put less at the table.

As a guest, I always hate when people are soclosetome, I would go with 10 at a 72 and 8 at a 60in table. Obviously if you have family/friends that can not be seperated, you may have to have more at each table.

Just my 2 cents.

we had 60" tables (i think?) and wanted to do no more than 8 per table. however, because it becomes a big puzzle, our tables had odd numbers. we had anywhere between 6-8 at each table. i believe the IL's had a table of 5 somewhere, go figure.

With chiavari chairs you can fit up to 12 at a 72" and up to 10 at a 60". I would keep it at 8/10 unless you have a single.

As a guest, I definitely prefer less at a table. I eat left-handed, so the extra elbow room is appreciated!

We did 60" round tables with 8 max at each table. Some tables had 6 and some had 7 or 8. We did it based on who knew each other. I thought 6 was a fine number at these tables and 8 they still had enought room.
