Highlights of our wedding and HM

Now I am home and uploading our many pictures! Hopefully I'll figure out how to post a few...

Our wedding ceremony and reception went very smoothly. I had very few details, so not much seemed out of place! My husband had a couple guests show up that he thought were not attending, but we were well under the minimum guests we had to guarantee, so it didn't matter. Our day got started a bit late-pictures of GM/groom family were supposed to start at 9:45, but there happened to be a funeral that didn't begin to leave the Church until 10:15am, so pictures were limited.

Highlights, for me, were how emotional I actually got. I am pretty much NOT a sentimental type of person. When I first saw my Grandfather without my Grandma for the 1st time at any family event, walk out of the Church to greet me, looking a bit like something was missing, I almost lost it. I wanted to share with him how my "something old" and "penny for the shoe" was a 1944 penny, their anniversary year, but I just couldn't do it. Then my Dad, who is just like me, was very emotional, very surprisingly so, and I didn't know how to deal with that. The final straw was my sister's (MOH) toast. Wow, she wrote the most beautiful, moving speech that really nailed our relationship on the head-centered around our biggest shared interest, and really evolved into what she feels I have meant to her, and how husband fits into that scheme. Very few dry eyes, I couldn't believe how much thought and what a great job she did.

Other than that, I loved hat our wedding really portrayed who we are, not a lot of flash, a sense of the importance of family and friends and just a light-hearted, friendly event. My WP did an amazing job being supportive and just being there to enjoy the day with us. No regrets! My one BM and I were up until 1am two days before dressing my wedding favors-bride/groom cake pops. They came out amazing and so delicious! But wow, what a task!

HM was in Maui. WOW. Totally lived up to its billing. I think everyone needs to visit HI at some point of their lives! It was a whirlwind of activity. I wish we had taken a few more days to relax and unwind, but at the same time, I am so glad we got all the things we wanted to do done-sunrise on Haleakala Mtn, snorkeling off the Molinkini Crater, ATV tour, sunset sail, luau, parasailing, Road to Hana, taking in the sites of the most western side of Maui, tons of hiking, and eating a LOT of great seafood and drinking a ton of Mai Tais. We splurged and stayed at the Hyatt Regency. To be honest, we really didn't need THAT extreme of a place to stay, but it was really nice to stay at such an amazing resort.

Now I am just happy to be home and be a Mrs. I'm looking forward to the next chapter of our lives and also to my brother's wedding come November...as much as I did enjoy our wedding, I think it is WAY more fun to be a guest than a bride!

  • I can totally relate to your last sentence on being a guest! I think I have a new appreciation for weddings and the work it takes that will make attending the next wedding I go to even more enjoyable as a GUEST!

I'm glad the wedding and HM went so well!

    Thanks all!

Yes, I figured it would be tougher being a bride since it's such a scheduled deal. I hated being whisked away every few seconds for pictures or dances or what not. Seemed like every chance I had to  go talk to a table, someone would be there to tell me I had to do this or that. Luckily we did a receiving line at the Church, and while that really did set us back on time, at least we got to thank every person. There were probably about 5 people who did not go to the Church and we made sure to seek them out at the reception. Granted, we had about 95 guests, so that made things easier!
