Input on invitations

I am really torn on what to do with invitations.  I got it all priced out for several ones I like (kind of more than I want to spend), even a quote for a designer and then to get them printed at Kinko's.

Then I revisted VistaPrint.com again (123print too).

I found these two westerny ones.  I don't want western overload, but it is dressy casual and in Wyoming.  Are they too kitchy?  The second one didn't have too many color options I liked.  I've purchased VistaPrint holiday cards before so I'd spring the heavier weight paper.

Not in love with them, but for $58-68 (plus any groupon deals) I could try to convince myself!  Plus their menu and escort cards were cheap too.  All my other options are 52-58% more expensive.

Also, did you get coordinating envelopes for the big and little envelopes? Or just white ones?

Re: Input on invitations

  • I like the second one because it's different and interesting. The first one is just way too boring and standard for me.

  • It depends what feel you want for your wedding. The initial impressions I get from them is that #2 is much more casual and playful while #1 seems more sophisticated.

  • I like #2 a lot!

For envelopes, I bought brown craft paper envelopes because we are going a bit vintagey for our wedding, and they are recycled, which I like. They don't match our invites, but they do coordinate with our theme (at least, they do to me!).

  • I loved the first one!!  Simple, yet not too westerny...I would do either white or brown envelopes for the first one...white for the second.
  • I can change the color of the texts, but that star I cannot nor the green decor. There are other decor/star colors I can play with.

Craft paper envelopes sound nice too!
  • I love both and I think either would send the right message for what you are going for!

Also if it was my money I would not waste it on the other invites and I would go with VP invites.. to be honest most people do not even pay attention to the invitation except to check the day/time so I would not waste the money.

I ordered my invites from VP and i think they turned out really nice.

You are right, no one is going to save them or anything!

Did you go with their default cardstock or upgrade to the 100lb?
  • I agree about not spending extra on invites. Sometimes we just focus on one little detail and want to get the best there is of that one thing... and we forget to see how important (or unimportant) that one detail is compared to the whole picture. And the whole budget! I was going overboard for a while myself... thinking I HAD to get top notch everything! But honestly, there are some things that no one else cares about. So whenever you're having trouble deciding if you should pay more than double for something, take a second to step back and evaluate how much is it really worth it in the big picture?

I like either, though I'm leaning towards #2 a bit. Something about #1 is screaming "ranch" out at me lol.

  • I like both a lot, but #2 is the clear winner to me!

  • I really like both but I love #2.  Definitely seems more of what you are looking for.  I would upgrade to the 100lb cardstock just so its thick enough that you don't have to worry about it bending in the mail.

    Anniversary
  • I agree.  The 2nd one is pretty awesome

  • My vote is for the second one.

  • I used a dark grey and light grey, but I cannot change that stupid blue star!  The other Vistaprint color combos were too harsh.

I just showed FI and told him I could get these for $28 total (in the linen cardstock upgrade with my Living Social deal) and he don't rule out the custom made invitations if I really wanted it!!  LOL (not the $700 custom though)
  • Hmm if you can't change the blue star, I would keep the other text that was blue to still be blue. Otherwise, the star kind of sticks out strangely.
