Hotel Suggestions without 2 night min-near Falmouth

Hi there. I'm wondering if anyone has found a hotel for a room block that did not impose a 2 night minimum, preferably in Falmouth, for Columbus Day weekend. I've gotten a few price quotes, but almost all require the two night stay. Most of my guests are travelling from a distance and will probably stay 2 nights anyway, but there will be a bunch from Boston who wouldn't need to. So far I've only found the Holiday Inn without one, but it's over $200 a night for the Holiday Inn in October, which seems ridiculous.

Thanks!

I found this website on Facebook and used to to book my block.  It's www.hotelplanner.com. You put in what you are looking for, location, room numbers (est), and area hotels will bid for your business.  An agent from there will email you but allow you to make contact with whatever hotels you want when you request more information.  I got a great responses and ended up with 2 good ones that I looked at.  I chose the slightly further but more quaint one that was $114 a night for my guests on New Years eve!
    Good luck!

Priceline a three or more star in Falmouth.  We've gotten the Holiday Inn for $56 in October for one night and just spent NYE at Inn on the Square for $44.  It's worth a shot.

I looked into the following hotels for our June wedding and found a lot of them had two night minimums, but a couple didn't and some of these ones may not impose a two night minimum in October.
Admiralty Inn, Inn Season Harborwalk, Sea Crest - all in Falmouth with a 2 night minimum.
The Holiday Inn gave us a decent one night rate, and so did the Eastern Inn in Buzzards Bay.  The Eastern Inn is definitely not the Ritz, it is older and located right on the rotary next to a restaurant.  The rooms are very basic and small.  The Falmouth Inn also gave us a one night rate, but when I went to see the hotel I found it to be old, run down, dirty... not somewhere I want to send my guests for $180/night.  There is also the Quality Inn (used to be the Best Western) right by the Bourne Bridge.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm still waiting to hear back from the hotelplanner website (you usually hear during business hours). I have heard the the Falmouth Inn is not at all nice too.

Side question-- do you think Hyannis is too far from Falmouth for people to stay? Our wedding is at Ballymeade in North Falmouth, ceremony is right in Falmouth. It looks like there are better and cheaper options if we head out to Hyannis but it's about 30 minutes or so from the reception. I'm getting frightened of the terrible hotel reviews for some of the cheaper option on tripadvisor. I guess ultimately we are picking up the extra cost for a shuttle anyway. Thoughts?

Hyannis isn't too bad of a ride...the bad thing is that there isn't a perfect way to get there.  You either have to take Rte. 28 (nightmare in the summer) or go back to the bridge and up Rte 6a to Rte 6 to the lower cape. Ballymeade isn't too far from the Mashpee rotary where you can pick up 28 or it's right off the other end of 28 to get back to the bridge.
I would suggest driving both routes yourself and see what is best so you can give your guests a good idea of how to get there.

Thanks Nicole. It will be in October so *fingers crossed* I wouldn't think the traffic would be bad. And we would provide a shuttle for guests so most people wouldn't need to worry about driving anyway, only the shuttle driver. I'm leaning towards doing that I think... It's tough because I'm in Boston so getting to the Cape this time of year is tough. Every time I plan a trip it snows! Either way I'll do the drive myself so we can give people directions in case they do decide to drive.
    Thanks everyone.

    Hi there,
If you do a shuttle then I think the trip to Hyannis isn't bad.  Another option would be to look at hotels in Plymouth or Buzzards Bay just over the bridge - its just about as far as Hyannis, but without the Cape prices!

I do NOT recommend the Falmouth Inn...I have stayed there once or twice, and it is all that it's been desribed as on here (dirty, old, etc).  If you speak with the people at the Holiday Inn you may be able to get a better rate (I had a friend that worked there years ago...).

Keep in mind that many of the hotels in Hyannis have not been updated in quite a while, and Hyannis has a much different feel than Falmouth (having grown up in Falmouth, and spent lots of time in Hyannis I feel I can say this with confidence!).

    Good luck with your search!

Thanks, Bpcmarj. I decided to go with Falmouth-- I do think it has a much more "Cape-y" feel and this will be a lot of people's first time in MA as all, much less Cape Cod, so I want them to get a good feel for it. Mariner Motel was able to offer a very limited number of rooms for one night, so I'll just let people know to book there asap if they want to stay one night. Otherwise they are on their own!

    Hi there

It seems like we are in the same boat

I am getting married at BALLYMEADE and have a ceremony in Falmouth at ST THOMAS chapel.  We are also getting married a holiday weekend- labor day.  Which causes LOTS OF PROBLEMS. I havent found any place that has less than a two night minimum. However, I would not send people to Hyannis its way to far.  If people want to stay over they will pay the money.  IF not they will drive...are you from MA? most of my guests are from Boston area, but we def have a bunch of out of staters.

I have called some hotels to block off rooms and they give me a lower rate, all of them come with good reviews since my sister had a wedding last year and had guests stay at them

    here are some of them:
Shoreway Acres is the BEST- they are already booked for my weekend
    Inn on the Square
    Tides Motel
Motor Lodge- we blocked off rooms here
    Holiday Inn- OVERPRICED
Cape Winds- havent heard back from yet

you can also ask guests to stay at B and Bs in the area sometimes they will take one night

    Hope that helps

let me know if you get any good dealsat the hotels, im still working on booking them

Hi Senorita-- We really are in the same boat--our ceremony is at St. Patrickl's in Falmouth and the reception is at Ballymeade! So far we have booked, or are in the process of booking, room blocks at Inn on the Square, Mariner Motel, Admiralty Inn, and I'm also listing the Red Horse Inn, although they won't actually block rooms but will offer guests a discount. Mariner Motel has agreed to allow a very small number of rooms for one night only, but the rate is higher than if guests book for 2 or 3 nights. The lady there was really nice, too. I figure I will also encourage people to try the B and Bs in the area but won't worry about blocking.

Most of our guests will be coming from a distance-- my family is all in NY/NJ, and his family is all over the country. It's just our friends from Boston that I don't want to have to pay for two nights, but I'm also encouraging them to look into rental houses. Since it's October, it seems like they will be able to get good rates.

I'd recommend calling the Mariner Motel if youare still looking. They got decent reviews on Tripadvisor (and it's 2 doors down from St. Patricks) and the rates were pretty good. I'm doubtful they would do one night only on Labor Day but worth looking into. I agree with your on the Holiday Inn-- it's way over priced. Inn on the Square is way nicer. Good luck!

Our bridal party and most of our guests are booking at the InnSeason Harborwalk - they gave us rates of $99/night, and I went to check it out and it was clean and in a great location.  I guess paying $200 for the weekend is comparable to spending $180 for one night at Holiday Inn.  The InnSeason is walking distance from St. Thomas Chapel, which might be helpful since there is very limited parking at the chapel (if I am thinking of the right one, the chapel right on the harbor?)

This hotel thing has been a big pain for us in our planning and something I hadn't even thought about before.  Although it is definitely a budget motel, we are putting the Eastern Inn on our accommodations info, but inly to give guests that option.  We are describing it as "an economical choice with small and very basic rooms located on Rt 28 and the rotary".  I just felt we should at least have one option for guests who could only afford or wanted one night.

Mystic-- how did you get in touch with the Inn Season? I tried emailing them but got no answer and I think I tried calling once, but it being the off season never got anywhere. It did look really nice from the outside at least.

Hey - Try giving them a call again 508-548-4300 during the week during normal business hours.  I spoke with the manager Tim and he was really helpful and able to answer all my crazy questions.  They won't put aside a block of rooms, but they will offer a discount to your guests if they mention your wedding group.
