Hi all!
I have been having the HARDEST time finding a first dance song and I really need help! I have been searching all over the internet and I can't seem to find anything. Here's the criteria I'm looking for:
- No county (sorry country fans, it's just not for me)
- We're having a live band play, so the song needs to be "coverable"
- I want something orignal (not anything like "At Last")
- Also looking for a song with staying power
- Needs to be danceable
Songs that have come close are:
- Bless the Broken Road - LOVE the lyrics, but I can't get over that the original song is country
- Imagine - Is probably the perfect song (classic but modern, coverable, and has a great message). The problem is that my FI is Israeli & I'm not Jewish, so the whole no religion, etc may be contraversial
- Nothing Else Matters - FI didn't like it, but it would be perfect to dance to since it's a waltz!
- The Luckiest - Ben Folds has such an original voice that any cover wouldn't do the song justice
- You are the Best Thing - Love the song because it's a relatively unknown song that's modern but has a vintage feel. I'm just afraid about the staying power piece. I think it was fairly popular 3 years ago...
Any suggestions would be really appreciated!
