How late is too late?

We are looking at going on our honeymoon at a different time than our wedding, and I was considering using a honeymoon registry instead of a traditional registry.  We were considering pushing it as far as our first anniversary. How late is too late to go on a honeymoon when using a honeymoon registry?

Re: How late is too late?

  • OP here. Most of my guests are family members (and a few close friends) and all of the family members think that the honeymoon registry (or a house fund) is a great idea for us. They love the idea that they would be able to contribute to our honeymoon or home, as we (like many) already have all of the things we need for our home. It was actually recommended to us, not my idea. The only things we could register for that we would actually use are far too expensive for any one guest to buy. This is why it was recommended that we use a honeymoon fund, even if we use it for something else.

I don't expect anyone to give us gifts, but I know that most of our guests want to. I just wanted to find a good outlet for their kindness that we could actually use. We just will not be in a financial position to go on our honeymoon (which we will pay for, the honeymoon fund would just cover extras and some expenses) until a bit after as we are also buying a house around the same time.
