Ok Knotties, I need ya...

Help!  Here's my dilemma: the clock is ticking down.  We still don't have an officiant nailed down yet... because we're not sure if we want to hire one.  We've considered having my little brother get ordained & marry us (and my bro is all for it).  I think FI feels like it won't feel "real" if we go that route though.
That said, officiants are expensive! and hard to find.  At least they are for us anyway.
So what should I do?  Keep trying to find someone to hire?  Save money & get FI on board with little bro doing it?  I need to decide, like, now.  I need to print my invitations, but I don't want to put the time on there & then find out that like, we can hire X officiant, but only if it's a half hour later or something.  AAAHHH!  I don't know what to do!  And I am really at the end of my wedding rope.  I HATE booking vendors!  Help!

    have you considered a courtroom judge? that's what i did...i paid a total of $150..and i got to use their space..she said it would've been cheaper if she came to our house, since they technically needed to keep the lights on for us.

    Jenn, how do you even go about getting that?  Would they come to our venue?  We're in no way religious, so judges are actually ideal.

    lemme see if i can find my original email from BACK IN THE DAY...i reserved my judge almost two years in advance, because i feared availability for 9/9/9.

    i guessed the email address based on the email address i had for my judge... firstname.lastname@that.com , so i'd call him first....this is the judge for arlington..since stanwood is WAY OUT THERE, i figured arlington would work...

    i would ask him if he would be able to perform a marriage ceremony, and what his fee is.

    when i did mine, the judge said they don't get paid anything FOR doing it, it's something to do in their free time as extra curricular...so i don't know if he'll even do it. so the fee i paid she said she uses it directly toward foodbanks/homeless shelters.

    if jay in arlington doesnt do it, contact carol mcrae, and see if she's willing to go to stanwood ;)

    jennyann, I am in the same boat as you BUT it's not my brother that wants to marry us it's one of my bridesmaids!! haha!! She cracks me up! I'm like "dear, you are a bridesmaid, not an officiant!" She's sooo serious too!
    But I actually contacted the mayor of the town we are getting married in. She is so excited to do it. I just have to figure out if she is avail. at the time we need...

    I used Todd Atchison for my wedding. He was the cheapest I found, $300 for rehersal and ceremony. He acutally just started doing photography and is really good.
     
    My DH's father died two weeks before the wedding and Todd did a GREAT job speaking about him. I really recommend him. My BFF was going to us him in June, but he is going to be out of town :(

    If you're interested in a Judge, try the courts' website or call.  Some Judges do it, some don't.  I think most do them at court only, but some probably travel.

    Ditto Jennuinne.  When Kooshball got married I recall she used a judge from one of the Seattle courts to marry them (they got married on the SLUT).
