I hate the dentist!

So yesterday was my first visit to the dreaded dentist in a long time.  I knew it was not going to be good news, but I have to get a tooth EXTRACTED, and they cannot fit my surgery in until Thursday.  They pulled off my crown, so the giant hole in the back of my mouth is so, so sore.

Anybody have happier/funnier stories to cheer me up?

Re: I hate the dentist!

  • :( I'm sorry. I went to the dentist yesterday too to get a filling. He said that because of the placement of my filling I would have really sore gums for the next few days. Well once the numbness wore off OMG my mouth HURT like a mo fo. I ended up doping myself up with a higher-than-recommended dose of Tylenol, grabbing an ice pack, and going to bed at 5:30 pm. I ended up sleeping for 14 hours :(
Sorry this isn't a happy or funny story, but I feel your pain. I don't like the dentist either.
  • :( Sorry...but here is a semi-funny story for you.

My brother is currently in Michigan for university and lives in residence.  Since I live in Canada, I send alot of my wedding stuff to him and get him to bring it home with him when he comes back (Christmas, Easter).  So the other day I asked him if it would be okay if I sent him another package and he said that it would be fine, thus, I placed a Victoria's Secret order and sent it to his address.

When the package arrived, he got really excited because he thought someone sent him a present.  A bunch of his friends were around so they were like "Open it up! Open it up! What did you get?!"...he opens up the package and responds "Lingerie"....I guess the guys in residence got quite the kick out of it!

I was like "wasn't there a Victoria's Secret label on the outside of the box?!?"

    ...I don't know....I thought it was pretty funny :P

  • I think it's funny that three of us had dentist appointments yesterday :)  PS- ibuprofen (advil) will help your mouth feel better.  And if there is ever a nerve issue, use clove oil.  After the extraction that may come in REAL handy - just mix it with olive oil and drop it in the hole.  I had this thing called dry socket when my wisdom teeth were pulled - worst pain in my life (the nerve is exposed).

Ummm...  so now that I have been no help at all...  Do you drink?  lol ;)

  • Lol Ceili, I think that's hilarious!

And I feel your dentist pain, ladies! I went to the dentist on Tuesday and had 2 cavities filled. I also have to have a gum graft later (in May/June, after the wedding!) because the root of one of my front teeth is exposed and they said the gums there won't grow back on its own. I guess that's what I get for not going to the dentist in over 5 years (and probably longer than that!). :(

  • hahhahha I feel for everyone!!! My best friend just found out she's pregnant...BUT she's been in and out of the dentist to do a root canal...let's just say whatever they did last isn't going to hold for 7 months until she can see the dentist again and they can do work.

My FI works in a medical building and he's been talking to the dentist there to see if they can do something with my dying front tooth! (happens when one experiences trauma...like getting run over lol) Yea, not willing to pay $1000 for one tooth since the last dentist told me I'd need to change at least 4 of them so they'll be the same color. It's not so bad in pictures...but even my friend's kids point it out hahaha.
  • Awww...thanks everyone for the stories and kind words!  I ended up calling the dentist after I posted to tell him how much pain I was in.  He said he did not realize it would take so long to get to see the surgeon and that he should have prescribed me meds.  So, he phoned a pain killer and anitbiotic in. So, after taking those, I felt much better but fell asleep pretty quickly.

    Thanks again!
