  • I'll be honest, there's not a ton of "pretty places" in the Aberdeen/Matawan/Old Bridge area of  NJ. The beachfront right near Addison Park used to be okay (not super, but the jetties were where friends of mine took cool pictures this summer), but it's pretty much annihilated from Sandy still. I don't know how much work Old Bridge Twp will get done getting it fixed up by August.

It's a very residential area. The only real park park in the area is Cheesequake State Park. It has some very nice walking trails, but it's foresty, not a flowering trees kind of a park. There is a golf course/country in Old Bridge, where you might be able to take some pictures.. And unfortunately ... it's not really a museum kind of area.

How much time do you have for pictures? If you've got time to go a little bit out of the way, I can try to think of places, but this post I went based on the thought that you don't have a ton of time so I tried not to go more than 20 min away from Addison Park.

  • If you have at least an hour or so for pictures, I'd suggest going to Holmdel Park.

  • We JUST took our pictures at Allaire State Park in Wall (we live in Old Bridge).  It was perfect!!  We had such a great time and there are tons of different spots for pictures.

Here's a link to our engagement pictures, hope it works.

  • Ask your photographer.
  • I'm going to hop on this post too reception in Matawan. Trying to stay close to the venue for photos. I heard Deep Cut Gardens in Middletown is nice. I'm goin to go check it out soon and post how it is.
  • Unfortunately, I live in Old bridge and I must agree with the poster that said there aren't many in my Opinion none at all picturesque parks or museums very close to Addison Park. I would suggest maybe heading further down 35 to the Red Bank area and taking pictures near that lake.

  • Are you getting married at Addison Park or at a Church?  Sadly, there is still a ton of devistation in that area.  My father's marina is in the area (completely destroyed) and my brother's restaurant WAS there (also completely destroyed) along with our family's bar (just got demoed last week).  There are still docks along the shores, boats are still unclaimed, though have been moved more off to the side and placed onto cinder blocks.

I suggest Holmdel Park because it is probably the closest to Addison Park.  Deep Cut Gardens is in Middletown, not quite sure where in Middletown though (it's a huge town) and it may take you longer to get there than you'd like.
  • You may laugh, but Kennedy Park in Sayreville (Washington Rd & Ernston Rd).  We took pictures on a bridge near the kids play area (to the left of tennis courts) & then right by this bridge is the coolest tree.  I don't know if it is a wheeping willow, or something like that - but it was wild. The photographer had my DH & BM climb up into it (not high) and the others were scattered below it.  Then DH & myself leaned up against it - they are such great shots.  After that we went over to the skate park & the kids got off the park so we can take pics.  Our photographer got them to loan 2 bikes & 2 skateboards for awesome pictures of all of us.  One kid even did a bike jump over us kissing - very cool...  We were going to head into the Town of Freehold for some more pics there, but honestly we got great shots at the park.  I second guessed my idea, but my photographer has such a great eye that she loved the place & made it work out perfectly!
  • Actually Addison Park itself is a good place for photos, here are some of a wedding that was there previously.

I also agree that you should check out Deep Cut Gardens in Middletown, NJ, its only about 15 minutes south of Aberdeen. Just an FYI though, for photos you need to make reservations. The number is (732) 842-4000 and press 1. Fees are based on the park site and residency. The fees range from $45 - $240 per hour.
