Airbrush Tanning- help!

I am one of those girls that used to work at a tanning salon and tanned indoors a lot....I certainly paid for it with skin cancer at the age of 24! I need a tan that is natural looking (more brown that orange) for my June wedding. Typically I've used the Mystic....the medium shade isn't dark enough but the dark shade leaves me streaky and with an orange tint.

I'm considering getting airbrushed (will definitely test it first) but it is so expensive! I'd like to hear if any of you have had good experiences with airbrush tanning before I waste my money. Is there something specific I should say to make sure they give me more of a brown tone?

I know you guys have the answers - maybe some of you even work as airbrush artists? Please help! :) Thanks!

  • Have you tried the Versaspa spray tan?  That is what I use.  I think it produces better results than Mystic.  But I always recommend an airbrush tan over a spray tan so that you are not streaky.  Also don't worry so much about being so dark--you really just need a nice glow.  But definitely have a trial so you can see how you like it and make adjustments if necessary.
  • Thanks for the tip! I haven't tried that but I will definitely look into it - I guess I do want to be dark....just not streaky!

  • Hi there,

As a spray tan artist my best advice to you is to go on Yelp, look at your local artists reviews, and start testing them out. I work with brides every week, and all of them do a trial tan first. You never know what kind of solution will work best for you until its applied, but its worth looking beautiful and sun kissed in your pictures against that white dress! Good luck!

  • Great advice! Thank you! I'm definitely going to find a place and test it out first!
