Needs Venue Help for Central FL :)

Hello ladies!!!      I grew up outside of Orlando (Apopka) and now live up in MA.  My fiance and I are trying to plan a wedding in Orlando and need help with venues!
I originally wanted to find an outdoor ceremony site, then have my reception at the City Arts Factory, but that's no longer available since Saks Comedy club moved in....boo.    Now I'm looking for a place with an outside area for ceremony and a pretty/maybe a little different inside space??

anyone know of anything good?? I'll take all suggestions so I have places to look!!!! thanks a ton!!!!!!!

We're getting married at Leu Gardens. They have a bunch of different ceremony sites outside and the receptions are held in the big white house.

    Casa Feliz
Maitland Art Center ???? (says that all rentals are outdoors only, but it lists a building as a rental option. Maybe someone else knows better than I do)
    Winter Park Farmer's Market

Depending on the number of guests I would suggest Lake Mary Events Center or Casa Feliz.

If you want a downtown venue to History Center does weddings. It's a minute from the City Arts Factory & they have their own parking. You'd have to check about dates though since they only do them certain times of year because of exhibits. Also I think Highland Manor is in Apopka which is very pretty.

I also live in the Boston area, but am from Orlando.
We are getting married in Jamaica, then having a reception in the Orlando area, and it is so hard planning from so far away, even though I lived down there for so long.
We ended up choosing the City of Oakland Meeting Hall, it is near Ocoee.  We had good friends get married there at the outside gazebo.  The actual hall is cute and very New England looking, if you ask me.  Only holds around 80 people, but you can provide your own food and drinks, which is good for our budget.

Let me know if you need help with anything else, maybe we can help each other!
    When is your big day?
Our reception is 12/11/10....coming up way to soon!

You might want to check out Historic Dubsdread Ballroom.  They have a pretty outdoor location overlooking the golf course, but it's a much different feel than beautiful gardens like Leu Gardens, or a fabulous artistic structure like Casa Feliz.  What time of year do you plan on getting married, and what's your guest list size?

Whatever you do, do not go with Highland Manor in Apopka.
We had our wedding there this August, and they completely forgot about it. I work with several people who have been in the service industry for many years, and they agreed that it was a total disaster. They left out several of out agreements from the contracts that we signed, they didn't know who we were when we got there, they left their music blaring during our outdoor ceremony. Do yourself a favor, check out Casa Feliz in Winter Park. It's beautiful, and they use Arthur's Catering, which is amazing.

I want to add to PP's comment.  We had heard amazing things about Highland Manor and went to check it out about 4 months ago when we were looking at venues.  While it was gorgeous we got such a terrible impression from the staff that it immediately was out of consideration.  I've heard mixed reviews about them and honestly, some of the ladies on this board absolutely love them!!  And I am so happy that their weddings turned out wonderful and beautiful.. I would just be cautious about starting a new contract with them.  Your wedding day is definitely not something that you want to be "hit or miss."

Also, as for Casa Feliz.. my fiance is a wedding photographer and often I get to go with him to the weddings and play assistant (haha, he needs someone to carry his bags so I get to be the lucky girl that does it!!).  I have done 2 with him at casa feliiz.  One was GORGEOUS!!  It was a beautiful day and everything was perfect.  Unfortunately, the other one it rained.. and they had literally no room to put everyone.  Lots of people had to stand during the meal because there was not enough indoor seating.  The ceremony took place in a tiny room that was about to fit about 50 of their guests and then the rest had to stand in the hall and watch through the window panes on the door.  If you're wedding is smaller, no doubt the rain location would work out just fine, but if you look at them, just please inquire about how many people can be comfortably accommodated indoors in the event of rain.  This bride was in a terrible mood all day and was so disappointed that the rain had "ruined her wedding" (her words).

Best of luck with your planning!!!!  =)

    Thanks, ladies!!!!

I actually forgot how to get back on here and check replies, haha. I'm an idiot!!  So new to this!
    :)

I think Casa Feliz/Lake Lucerne sound beautiful, but I wouldn't want to have to rely on an outside reception, so I think I'm mostly ruling that out.

Hyatt Regency looks awesome, I'll definitely look there.  Have been looking at Grand Bohemian/Lake Mary Events Center/Buena Vista Palace mostly as of right now.   I literally just came across the Tap Room @ Dubsdread today, that looks like a wonderful space!!  Has anyone been to a wedding there or seen it in person??

We're looking for an early 2012 wedding for probably around 130 people.  Maybe less if people don't wish to travel.

I'm getting so stressed because we are so far away, and I know places book up so quickly.  I have my Matron of Honor that still lives in Orlando and my dad on board to help me scout out some places, but I'm trying to compile a list first!

    I so appreciate everyone's input!!! :)
