October 2012 Weddings

DOC mess

I had posted last week about how our venue is now requiring our DOC to have a business license and insurance.  Previously, during our tasting, we had inquired about having a family friend (who has been a wedding coordinator at a few weddings) to be our DOC.  She said that would not be a problem.  Now with less than 4 weeks, she is now saying how we need both of those per the contract.  I'm frazzled and worried that now we are going to have a big problem.  I just don't have the energy for this......

  • Ugh!  That stinks!  Can you tell your venue that your DOC is just a friend who's helping you out?  Maybe that's a loophole in their weird contract??

We are going to try that....and honestly I think my FMIL & DOC are going to get involved.  The contract states that any contractors must provide their business license.  I never considered the wedding planner to be a contractor.  They aren't setting up anything and I don't see how they could be liable for anything, like a DJ or caterer.  Plus, we really aren't doing a contract with them.
