Big day hair

Hey ladies...
sooo have you guys thought about or decided on your wedding day hair/hair accessories?  I keep jumping back and forth..being extremely undecisive.

At the beginning, I thought for sure I wanted to leave my hair down with big waves and have a flower crown.  Then, I hate to admit it, but people's opinions kind of shot me down and now I think it's going to be up, but swept to the side in a messy bun with a flower or hair comb...

Kind of like this 'do:

I would most likely wear a pearly comb or pin or a flower if I did this...

Here's me in my dress if it can help you guys in your opinions on what I should do with my HAIR?!! I'm having serious anxiety over it haha

Re: Big day hair

  • how about 1/2 n 1/2 part up part down
  • I think it'll sort of depend on the overall style of your wedding.
If it's a very natural/rustic/relaxed/whimsical type wedding, I LOVE the idea of a loose or messy side-bun. I think the picture you posted may be a bit too structured, but the idea of it is great.

If it's going to be a more "proper"/elegant/formal type of wedding, then perhaps you could consider doing something like this: http://media-cache-ec3.pinterest.com/upload/159385274283158614_s8WLYmtK_b.jpg

but ultimately, it's YOUR hair. If you want to leave it down with big curls and a flower crown -- then DO IT!! Some people might not "get it" but what is more important is that you love it and you think it's beautiful for you!

  • I'm planning to do my hair half up/half down in loose curls with some sort of pearly-rhinestone clip/comb.

I think a loose wavy side bun would look beautiful with your dress!

Thanks :)  The overall style of our wedding is garden/natural/whimsical...very vintage-y too.  We are getting married outside on a garden terrace with cobblestones and vines, etc.  The reception is inside the restaurant with stone walls, wooden tables, etc.  This is why I don't want my hair to be too "structured"...like basically the link you posted, while it's a beautiful updo, it's exactly what I'm trying not to do ;)

  • I agree with PP's on the messy side-bun. However I do think big waves would also look beautiful on you. Go with your gut!

At the outset, I was pretty stuck on loose waves with a half-up, half-down look and a flower headpiece of some sort. Then I tried on my dress, put a veil on for fun, and decided that I now want to have my hair in a low bun! That is so unlike me... I have really long straight hair - it's almost reached the top of my butt now - and I always just let it air-dry and hang down (unless I'm at the gym). But the dress I chose has a beautiful low-cut back with faux buttons that I want to show off, and I think my hair would look better in a bun under the veil. I need to speak with a hairstylist to see if this is even feasible though... in the past, most stylists have had a near-impossible time trying to pin my hair up, and I don't want to deal with worrying about my hair staying put on the big day.

  • I'm going the loose, curled side bun with the flower in the side. I don't have enough hair to go 1/2 up 1/2 down, and I don't think my hair would last as well all day all down. I want something in my hair but I don't want a tiara or a veil, leaving the flower.

I say do what makes you happiest. It's your wedding afterall.

    Life is good today.
  • I'm with Chels&Jimmy - I'm thinking low bun! Or something along those lines. My big debate is how much of my natural curls I want to leave in, or if I want to get it straightened at all. But the curls and flower crown sound PERFECT for your wedding :)

  • I have NO IDEA!! I have always wanted an updo with my curls cascading around my face. I tend to overheat easily and didnt want to spend the day and night pulling it off my neck. But now that I kinda have my dress in mind, Im thinking it may look better with my hair down in curls with a flower on the side behind my ears. Or, maybe a side messy bun type thing. I guess it will depend on my dress now. I didnt think the dress really mattered on how I did my hair, but it does. Oh well.

But, if your going for a rustic gardeny vintagy wedding, go ahead with the side bun. BUT if you really want it down, I say do it. you are the one who has to look at pics forever! Maybe go to a stylist and try both?

  • I concur with pp's too :)  You're already very pretty and a soft romantic bun would look stunning on you!! (JMHO)

As for my big day hair I'm going with a combo of this:

I love this low bun for a wedding day hair style. Its elegant, and beautiful but delicate and gorgeous like a bride should be. THe curled but weaved and noted look is amazing!

  • Thanks laaaaadies!!!  You're too kind ;)
I really do think the side messy bun will be the way it will be - I hadn't even thought about the July heat, so I certainly wouldn't want it down and me sweating...ugh! So thanks so much for your opinions, you've really helped me out!!

    Getting2Vowels - that's a gorgeous updo!!
