85+ invites for shower/party????!!!???!!!???

I'm throwing a bridal shower/bachorette party with two others that are in the wedding party. We had asked the bride to come up with a list of invites and she came up with a list of over 90 people to invite for the bridal shower and over 70 people for the bachorette party. She thinks only half of them will come to both events. But is it just me or does this seem a bit much? I just had my wedding a few months ago and now in the middle of buying a house. I do not know how I'm going to be able to throw these parties even splitting the bill with that many people that are invited? Am I out of line for thinking this is just too many?

    Um yeah that's crazy. I'd say 25-35 is good for a shower and up to 10 for a batch party.

    Oh that's crazy; there will be 28 at mine including the MOH and myself and sometimes I'm trying to revise it because it feels like a bit much.

    You should let her know how many you can accomodate; that's only fair since you're footing the bill.

    If she has that many people, maybe you could throw the friends shower and someone in her family can throw her another one. She cannot force you to accomodate 85+ people and a bachelorette party with 70 people would be a nightmare to coordinate. Usually it's the bridemaids and a few other close friends for the bachelorette party.

    It's a lot of people but I can see how it can happen because she probably gve you everyone who is coming to wedding...I know thatI didn't have 85 but I had 50 which is a lot and I had less becuase I didn't invite all of my FI's friends/SO's of friends...and I didn't invite work people because I knew they would throw a little one for me...I think the advice of throwing a friends on is really good...or I agree with Retread let her know that you can only accommadate X amount of people and see if she will trim list.
