appropriate time to send save the dates (holiday weekend)

so my fiance and I are getting married the friday night of memorial day weekend (2013), when would be a good time to send out our save the dates? I really want to include one of our enagement pictures on it, which we werent planning on taking until sept/oct, isthis too late?

    6-9 months before is normal, but since it's holiday weekend, some people do it even sooner than that.  I think September, which is 8 months, would be fine.  We're getting married the weekend before and we're going to send them out this Friday, which will mean people will receive them at 9 months.  We're doing it earlier because about 90% of the guests will be out of towners.

    I wont be sending our till September. We are getting married the Sunday before but we also dont have a lot of OOT guest.

    I plan on sending ours out by Sept 1st (at least thats my goal). We don't have too many OOT guests, and our wedding is May 4th. I'd say the sooner you can the better. Try and take your engagement photos in early Sept so that you can hopefully have them out by Oct.

    I sent mine out at the beginning of July and I am also getting married the friday of Memorial day but about 80% of my guest are OOT so I needed them to have enough time to be notified of the day. I know a lot of my guest appreciated having them sent early enough for them to make travel plans especially since it is on a friday night.

    We're the Saturday of that weekend and will hopefully get our STD's out by no later than the end of September. Though I'll be okay with early-mid October if need be. I just want to get them out before Thanksgiving so they don't get mixed up with all of the holiday stuff & risk getting missed in the mix of everything.
