Wedding Dress AW, PIP heavy!

And, here is is! I'm going to try to narrow it down because I have a ton of pics. I'd love you guys' opinions, I will say that I started out wanting something a little more vintage-y with minimal bling and ended up going pretty poofy princess. And I loooooooved it. I don't think I'm going to have that "cry when I see it" moment with my dress, but there are a couple of serious contenders. Also, most of the pics include my face because I don't have paint or photoshop and am lazy, so I apologize for some truly hilarious expressions.

Number 1: Alfred Angelo. This is one of the top 3. It can be made with a corset back and I can add more train.

Number 2: Also AA and a top contender. Can't come with a corset, but really pretty. I will say that I had the best consultant of the day at AA, she was totally on it and pulled fantastic dresses.

These next two are from a local shop and are one is Maggie Sottero and one is Sottero/Badgely. I don't have style numbers because the shop gives them their own numbers and couldn't give me style numbers.

2:

And last, but certainly not least, this Mori Lee rounds out the top three. It's the last one I tried on at the first shop, and the first one that made me really light up.

Re: Wedding Dress AW, PIP heavy!

  • I like number 2 and the last one. I love the sleeves on both of those, so pretty and classic. You look gorgeous in all of them though! You have a great, fun decision to make!

  • You look great! I also had a wonderful experience at AA. I think I like the second dress the best and also number 3 and 4.

  • I also like dress number 2 best. Just gorgeous!!

  • I freaking love LoVe LOVE number four!! Like a lot! Your body looks rockin in it!! I love the shape of the dress, I love the straps, I love the material and design. Just everything about it, just love!!

  • Number 4!!!!!!! NUMBER FOUR!!!!!! the second one is my second choice. It's so pretty! I love the last one
  • Ok, I wrote a response and it got eaten, so I hope this one shows up, and if I double post I am sorry :)

The Mori Lee is my favorite, but I really love the veil for #1, so I think I'd put something like that with it. I like the longer veils, either with a bit of sparkly or with the lace edging.  My mom's fave is #2, which is probably second place. I don't like that it can't be ordered as a corset, but it makes me look so little in the waist.  I'll be trying on more and some of the same ones for her when we're both in MS at the end of the month, I know I need to make a decision and order either in MS then or here right when I get back.

  • Number 4 is my fav but I don't think you can make a wrong choice with any of those! Gorgeous!
  • At first I was going to say 2, but the more I look, I REALLY like 4.  I think it's very flattering.  But 2 is a close second.  :)

  • Dang your body rocks in #4!!! And two is so pretty too!! Sounds like a positive experience, let us know what you choose!!!

  • Love them all but it is also 4 for me. It defines your body so nicely. The fit is perfect!
  • Ok wait, is there actually five dresses here? You numbered them kinda funny. By "four" I mean the very last one!

  • Binx--Yeah, I realized that after I posted, but my computer was being wonky and I didn't want to try to edit it and end up deleting the whole post. I was so used to talking about them in terms of the order we tried them on in each separate place.

I'll admit I was really nervous about trying things on, but my friend that was with me was totally awesome and encouraging. I think that the consultants deal with a lot of girls/women who are really in denial about their sizes, and of course in wedding dresses that doesn't help because you're trying on something 1-2 sizes bigger anyway. The first consultant kind of walked on eggshells for a few minutes when talking about sizes, but then she realized that I am fully aware of the size of my ass and just wanted something that looks good regardless of the number.

My friend had a horrible AA experience in our hometown, but I feel like the girl here was just magic. She was a bigger girl, too, which I think helped. I kind of hate that if I get the dress I and everyone like so much that she won't get commission off of an AA one, but I will say that AA had the best accessories I saw.

  • Oh I meant the 4th one as the 4th picture of a different dress, not 5th

  • Hike--The one with the flowers on the waist? Yeah, I like the definition in that one, I'm just not sure about the flowers.

I wish I had been paying more attention to the numbers you guys! I was so used to talking about them in shorthand all day yesterday that I wasn't totally with it when I was posting. I assume when anyone says sleeves or straps that they are talking about either the #2 AA or the Mori Lee.

  • And, here's an article that has a picture of some of the church renovations, if that helps to envision a dress in this space. I had the article from the paper (my grandmother clipped it out and sent it to me) to take with me. It's a rather grand space and I want the dress to fit in.

  • I honestly love them all, but I think the last one is the most flattering and 'wow'.  I agree that the first veil is gorgeous - I might be biased as it looks a lot like mine!  And I love the lace bodice on that one, but like I said, the last one just really rocks your figure in all the right ways.

I will say if the store won't give you style names/numbers, it's likely because they don't want you to price shop them, which means you probably should to make sure you aren't overpaying.
