Flower Budget

How much did you all budget for flowers? I am trying to settle a dispute with my mom. I do not want to spend more than $1,500 dollars for flowers (5 bridesmaids bouquets, 5 corsages, 1 alter arrangement and 8 centerpieces) but she thinks that decent flowers will cost at least $2,500. I want to do something with green mums, hydrangeas and delphiniums for my August wedding. I have two appointments scheduled next  week with florists but wanted to know if $1,500 if even a realistic budget for all of that. Thanks!

Oh goodness. My budget is $550-$600 and I have six BM bouquets, my bouquet, 10+ boutonnieres, 10 or so centerpieces, 5 or so corsages and maybe more. My florist is amazing and reasonably priced. I'm having hydrangeas, tiger lilies, astromeria and berries for flowers and berries for boutonnieres. So I'd say yes, you can do that in your budget. Let me know if you want the name of my florist. She keeps prices low because she works out of her home and does all the work herself.

You can TOTALLY use that budget.

    I budgeted $1000 for: 6BM, 18 bouts, 18 corsages and 20 centerpieces.

We are doing all yellow roses with Something Chic Floral.

I went slightly over my budget to about $1200.  But that includes delivery, set-up, etc.
Try Hy-Vee, too.  They were cheaper, but the one I went to didn't have many ideas.  I really liked Something Chic and chose her based on the quality of work I believe she does.  :-)

We are at $600 for my bqt, MOH bqt, 12 boutonnieres, 9 corsages, an aisle runner, a fresh floral wreath for around our sand vases and two large candelabras with flower arrangement.  For our reception we are at $450 for 14 centerpiece arrangements. So, I think you can totally do it.

We are using roses, mini calla lilies, mums, spider mums and hydrangea.  Your hydrangeas are going to cost you the most, so I would maybe think about a couple of spots that you really want to use them.  For us, they are going in my bouquet and the wreath for the alter and that is it. Your green mums are super cheap to get, so you should be able to save a ton of money there plus there are multiple blooms on one stem, so that is always a bonus.  The delphinium should be in between for cost. Have you thought about any other flowers you would like to use?

I am DIYing my flowers and for 3BM 18Bouts my flowers are going to cost about $150. I agree that 1000 will be more than what you need!

For the number of bouts you have, are you counting your family?!

$1500 should be more than sufficient.

Our budget was $800 and we ended up getting 4 BM bouquets, my bouquet, 11 boutonnieres, 6 corsages and labor/vase rental for setting up my DIY centerpieces for $750.  We then nixed 9 of the Bouts for GM/Ushers in favor of just pocket squares and ended up reducing the cost to $550 including tax.

I should also note that almost $200 of that is just my bouquet b/c the flowers I chose are rather expensive: Dutch blue hydrangeas, mini white roses, calla lilies, and white cymbidium orchids.

Thanks for all the input! Sdose13, what is the name of your florist? I have appointments set up for Hy-Vee and Something Chic but that sounds like an amazing deal. Any other suggestions for inexpensive white and green flowers? Also, I was planning to get corsages for my mom, MIL, SIL and our two grandmothers. Is it customary to get them for anyone else like aunts?

I think it's completely up to you.  We are getting corsages for our reception hostesses, guestbook attendants, our cake servers (4 aunts), reader, vocalist, personal attendant...we have a lot of people involved in our wedding :-)

Keep in mind that pin-on flowers are almost always cheaper than wrist corsages (we are doing all pin-on).

Good luck--I'm sure you will get lots of great ideas.  Hy-Vee and Something Chic are the 2 places I went.  I really liked Danielle with Something Chic, and she had tons of pictures and creative ideas.  It was fun to talk with her, which is ultimately why we chose her!

I'm using Boesen's, and my budget is $700 for three bouquets, three vase arrangements, a bud vase, 8 boutinieres, and like 10 corsages or so. Also, 30-40 gerberas to float. 1500 should be plenty to have really nice flowers.

I don't know how much our flowers are going to cost (meeting with florist in 2 weeks).  We have 8 bouquets, 16 boutonnieres, 4 corsages and a flowergirl pomander.  I'm hoping not to spend any more than $1000.  I don't know what I want to do for flowers either, except that I want a unique rustic bouquet.  We are doing our own reception decor and not having an alter arrangement since the wedding will be outdoors.

I think that there is no reason why you can't have nice flower arrangements for what you budget.  Talk to your florist and tell her what your budget is.  I'm sure she can tell you what is within your budget and help you out more than you think.
