Zumba and weight loss

Hello! My fiance and I had planned an Aug 2012 wedding but due to family issues we had to cancel it. We currentl have no new date in mind. However, I already own my dress!

I purchased it in a size 10, which is what I was. I tried it on today and it doesnt fit! I can only zip it half way!!!!!! :( I just started a new birth control but I havent gained any weight on the scale!

Anyways, to my point! Has anyone had any luck with Zumba Fitness work out routine!? I just bought the complete dvd set and plan to do it 5 days a week along with biking.

Any workout and weight loss tips would really be great!!

  • I'd be interested to hear Zumba success stories as well. FI and I just tried our first Zumba class at the gym last week and had so much fun!

  • I'm a bit anti-zumba.
It's just not enough of a work out for me; but if you aren't active right now, ANYTHING to get your butt moving is a great thing!
If you have a hard time staying motivated and love zumba, then go for it!
  • *I had knee surgery in April and I'm currently restricted on dance and sports movements, so all of my opinions are from last year or earlier*

Zumba is a lot of fun and it is a great moderate workout if you give it your all.
I've always found that running was the best cardio for me as far as tranforming my body. Running seriously makes me smaller all over. But Zumba is just sooo fun!
I think the best thing is always to try it yourself because everybody and every body is different. But if I were giving myself advice, I'd tell me to run and enjoy Zumba as an fun 'extra' workout!
    Good luck!
  • I absoultly LOVE Zumba! I was doing it 4-5x a week but i wasnt eating right so they weight wasnt coming off :(  I did notice other exercises were getting easier though. I think you get out of it what you put in! you can do it a little lazy or go "balls to the walls" and get a butt kicking workout! I like in class sessions though-i wasnt able to keep up with the dvds bc beauto (sp?) doesnt speak english and they dont always tell you what to do :(

  • I am an avid zumba enthusiats!  However I do not do the videos I go to the classes.  I understand the classes are expensize but I would recommend trying them out first to get the hang of it and fall in love with it beofre going to the videos.  It is a totally different world.

I am getting married 9 months and 279 day's! good luck lot of gyms have zumba now as well as some skate rinks.
  • I'm actually a Zumba instructor, so here is my opinion.

As an instructor, I have seen several people lose and maintain their weight loss with Zumba (myself included.) I saw someone posted it wasn't enough of a workout, and that's okay, but I encourage you to try more than one class. Each instructor has different routines, a different style, different intensities. Find one that suits your style. I definitely think it is worth trying.

  • I have Zumba Fitness for the WII and I love it. I can track my weight loss right there by weighing in and updating my profile. It tells me how many cals I have burned and how many steps and my accuracy. I started it in may and had list 15lbs by July. I have not been at it as much I have been walking and trying my hand with Jillian :) all in all great dace workout.probably not so good if you wanna tone up, but just to lose the weight its amazing.
  • I do zumba, sit-ups and abcircle pro. Have been for the last 2 months, my waist is slimming and i feel my stomach tightening but not really slimming down..
