Flower Pricing

Hi Ladies,

Need some advice I met with someone from Aberdeens Flowers this weekend and I signed a contract and gave her $175 deposit, this is what she is giving me for $865
bouquet
throwaway bouquet
5 corsages
2 mom corsages
6 boutinnaires
1 flower girl petals
10 bows w/roses

Also for centerpieces I am going to go with something basic which would be tall tube vases filled with water and submergeable lights, beads, I have to provide the vases and that would cost be 165 for 11 of those.

She said they don't charge based on the type of flowers they just go off what package you want.

I thought that was a pretty good deal since I am not all that in flowers I didn't want to spend more than $1000 I have read many posts about girls spending thousands of dollars and that is just not my thing. I just want to know if any one you have used aberdeens or what you girls think abou this deal?

Re: Flower Pricing

  • I am meeting with Aberdeen's this week also.  I went to Roselle Flowers last week and still haven't heard back from them with a quote.   I was not overly impressed with the girl I met with there.

I'm anxious to hear answers to your question because I feel the same way.  Not that into flowers and don't want to spend a fortune on them either.

  • Gina,

I met with Cindy in Schaumburg, that is where I live she seemed very knowledgeable and I liked her she has been doing this for 20+ yrs so I felt confident, let me know how your appt goes.

  • Great thanks.  I'm in Schaumburg too.  They've been around forever so they must be doing something right!  I'll let you know how it goes :)

  • You price is about what I spent for my flowers (which were all roses) for the same package. However, I find the statement that the flowers don't matter a little strange. My prices on flowers went down a lot when I took calla lilies out of my bouquets and did only one type of flower instead.

I would make sure the contract states exactly what type of flower you want if that is something you care about. If you don't care if they show up with all roses or carnations or some other type of inexpensive flower, then you are probably fine. But if you are expecting calla lilies or other expensive flowers, you might be setting yourself up for disappointment.

  • Hello Ladies.....I live in Roselle and went to serveral florist in the area.  I was not overly impressed with Aberdeen's they offer great prices but after some research I found that the quality is not very good.  I was in 2 weddings that used Aberdeen for flowers and the flowers did not hold up.  I went to Fabbrini's Flowers in Hoffman Estates great place. Their prices are about the same as Aberdeen's and they have great reviews.  I am using a lady that does it out of her house she is located in Hoffman Estates Flowers by Grattoni she is great and does not have overhead so her prices are very good.  check her out.  I am having
    bouquet
    throwaway bouquet
    5 corsages
    3 mom corsages
    7 boutinnaires
    2 dad boutinnaries
    1 flower girl pomander ball
    19 tables with flower centerpieces
    3 single roses
    blessed mother bouquet for church
all of this for $1700.00 everything without the tables was like $1200.00
Keep in mind the type of flowers you use also plays apart of the price.
I am using roses and orchids for everything.

I hope this helps you ladies.  best of luck you all

  • Thanks girls I will keep this in mind. Gina who are you meeting with? Maybe you can ask them to clarify and see what they say because I specifically asked about the flower types and she said it didn't matter so I want to see what they tell you compared to what I was told.
  • I'm not sure what her name is.  I just called to confirm my appt because I made it about 3 weeks ago and do you think I put it on my calendar?  Nope!  I hope they call me back!

Although I'm not huge on flowers I do have a couple of specific things I do and don't want.  I know that i want to use Stargazer lilies and orchids.  Roselle flowers said that orchids are definitely more expensive, so theirs did depend on what I want.  Since I wrote that first post, I got my quote from Roselle flowers.  It was right about 900.00 but she quoted me for much smaller centerpieces than I asked for.  So I expect it would be about another 300.00 for the centerpieces I want.  She also specifically said that we can change some of the flowers in my centerpiece to bring down the price.  So, I will definitely make sure to discuss this when I go to Aberdeens.  That really does seem odd that their price wouldn't change no matter which flowers you choose.

The 900 from Rosell Flowers included -
1 relatively small bridal bouquet of lillies and roses( my choice to make it small)
    3 bridesmaids
    5 boutiniers
    3 mom coursages
14 centerpieces, I'm providing the glasswear for the centerpiece
I hope this includes head table flowers, I should double check with her

I'm going to get several quotes, making sure I'm comparing apples to apples.  Basically they will all get the same list of what I want and see who has the best price, and the best reviews.  I have not really taken time to read any reviews on florists yet.

  • I would definitely request a mock up or example of the bouquets you will get. And even if you don't particularly care about your flowers, I would still look into what kind of flowers you personally like to look at and you want incorportated at your wedding. I'm the same way, didn't want to spend $5,000 on flowers and I'm definitely not. But I was still able to customize my decor at a really great rate (Blu Oasis Floral). Whether you believe it or not, it will make a difference for the way you look coming down the aisle with those flowers. Make sure you know what kind you're getting and the exact colors. Other than that, it seems like a good deal.
  • Do most florists do a mock up?  Is that something you have to pay for?  I would love that.  I have found a couple of specific boquets that I like the look of but I want mine on a smaller scale.  I'm short and I personally do not like how the cascading or large bouquets take away from the bride a lot of times.  Just my own personal preferance for myself.  So, it would be great to see a live example.

Most of the florist I went too had bouquets they currently had been working on that they could show me their work....they also had several flowers I can see and look at to make sure that is what I wanted.  The florist that I am using was able to get me the sizes of the bouquets.  My is a cascade so it is 11" wide and 20" long.  my girls are 9" round.  this info helps so you can decide what works best for you and your girls.  most bride bouquets are 9" round and the bridemaids are 6" round that is standard from what I found out.  I have choose to go larger since I'm please size and so are 3 of 4 of my girls.  I hope this is helping you.
  • I just got back from Fabrinni's and I really liked the guy I met with.  He was VERY helpful and I felt like he really knew what he was talking about.  They were a bit more expensive than Roselle flowers, by about 300.00 but I think my vision of what I want he really gets.  I'm going to Aberdeen's on Thursday and I want to find one or two more to compare.  I'm ready to get the flowers checked off the list!

  • We used them. We had a really bad experience but I have heard that there is new ownership since I got married. Check on some other wedding websites for recent experiences.
