Wedding Woes

Things

1) Who has two thumbs and just had her first double-double? >>this girl<< I ordered a regular cheeseburger, but she rang me up for a double. Maybe today is my lucky day?

2) New contacts. I'm not 100% these are the best fit for me. We'll see if I have a headache at 5:00.

3) I think H ordered something from Tiffany's, as we got a catalogue in the mail.

4) The new shredder came this week. It finally stopped raining long enough for me to get it. Yeah....that bad boy is going to sit in my car until H gets here and he can lug that heave SOB up the stairs.

5) Nobody ever buys the donuts I like to bring into the office. What does a sister got to do for an old fashioned? (I like the cocktail and the donut!)

Re: Things

  • What's an old fashioned donut?
  • I should buy my coworkers doughnuts.  hm.
  • 4.a.  Did you get a Leg shipment?

That bad boy on the left is what I go for.

  • 4a. YES! Also, I picked up and In-N-Out hat for my fairy god-daughter today.
    image
  • I was picturing a cakey thing with no sugar, glaze, sprinkles, or chocolate.  I'd eat the one you posted.
  • Good.  I'm glad you got it.  :)

Seriously? No one brings in plain glazed donuts? Ever?

Krispy Kreme does $2.99/dozen the day after the cardinals have a 12-run (or more) game. LOTS of offices end up with KKs that day. ::longs for baseball season's return::

Donut side-note - Krispy Kreme also regularly sends leftovers to the fire department here. Like if they make too much for a fundraiser or something, I guess. H eats a lot of donuts this way.

  • KK gives freebies to people wearing scrubs going to/from the hospital...my sis used to bring them daily to work.
  • plain glazed =/= old fashioned. The density of the dough isn't the same. I realize this is a first world problem.
    image
  • Donuts are gross.

    That is all.
  • I have to drive about 30-45 minutes to reach the nearest Krispy Kreme establishment. I *could* get them from the grocery store...but it's just not the same, man.

We have a DD on campus now. It's dangerous.

  • Ugh, I don't like KK at all.  Gross.

I'd eat the donut you posted, Min.

I PPH Dunkin Donuts plain donuts.  They're so good dunked in coffee.

My fave donut of all time is a DD double chocolate.

  • Mmmmm, those are my favorite, too.

    KK can DIAF.

I just a friendly gal looking for options.

  • I'm with Zsa, KK is dis(farking)gusting.  We had one here, and it went under in less than a year.  People would rather eat cake donuts.

When in Maine, I made H stop at every DD we saw.  I was portly and enjoying my donuts, y'all.

Can you tell I want a donut?

You'd better get that gift from your H, I read a book where...oh it was a book, who am I kidding?
    image
  • Right. If I don't get anything from Tiffany, we can assume he was buying stuff for all of his other women.
    image
  • Exactly, you can have a Maury moment.
    image
  • KK is awesome.  There used to be one two miles from my house but they closed it.  I don't even know where there is another one.  DD is literally on every block near work.  Just like CVS and Walgreens.

We get old-fashioned donuts at this old school place by our old apt- DH will drive 10 miles just to surprise me with donuts.  I knew there was a reason I married him.

  • I love those big cinnamon twist thingies.  They're like a granulated sugar doughnut (please note the spelling), but twice the size for the same price.  I always used to get this back in my Catholic school days when they let us order and eat a doughnut in class after mass on churchy days (they assumed we didn't eat breakfast).

OFace - he said he ordered the catalogue so we can look at it when he is here.
    image
  • Min, that does not make any sense.  Are you having a head+desk moment?

I might be. He said he had it sent so we could look at it together. He bought me an ATTROCIOUS necklace for xmas and I told him never to make any assumptions about what I like, ever again.
    image
  • Oh.  Okay.  I thought maybe this was an extra something.
    imageimage
  • No. He doesn't have any charges to Tiff and all I am getting is the catalogue...nothing like that.

I remember DD being so HUGE when I was in Boston. For coffee. Starbucks considered it their biggest competitor in that market.

I don't see the allure, for the donuts or the coffee. I don't think their donuts are worth the calories. KK on the other hand - yum.

They are opening a DD half a block from our KK. It's the only DD I know about within driving distance, though there must be a couple of others.  I am hoping other people patronize it, because I don't want another empty freaking building in this town.

    image
  • I love DD, hate KK. There's like 2-3 DD in the Houston market, and one is about a mile from our house. I try to keep them to special  occasions, or an occasional weekend, otherwise would weigh 400lbs. They were on every corner in Philly, including one on the same block as my office.

My family (parents, sister and I) would get "birthday donuts" from DD rather than birthday cake. I have carried on this tradition with DK and Wolverine.
