July 2013 Weddings

reply card response time??

My wedding is July 20 and we're figuring out the wording for our invitations. We're planning on sending the invites out May 1st.. on the reply card, when should I say to reply by?? What's normal?

Re: reply card response time??

  • Our wedding is July 20th too :-) We're sending invitations out ~8 weeks in advance and our RSVP date is June 22nd. I've read that you should send invitations 6-8 weeks in advance and RSVP should be ~1 week before your vendors need your headcount (to give you time to contact stragglers).

  • I'm mailing out invites for my July 5th wedding on May 1 with a reply time for June 1. I would look at your catering contract and find when they need your final numbers. Take that date and subtract at least two weeks if not three to give late arrivals time to come in and yourself to make phone calls. Mine ended up at like June 3 so I made it the 1st for a more "pretty" date. lol
  • Our wedding is 7/5 and we had our rsvps due by 6/14, we didn't need a head count until 72 hours in advance, so I gave my self sometime to plan for the stragglers. That's also the same day as our block of rooms gets released to the public.

Good thinking on using the same date as the hotel block release date, wish I had done that!

  • my wedding is 7/20 also.  we are sending them out may 17th and asking for a response by June 17th, that way we have 2 weeks to call people before we need to give a final headcount to the venue.
  • we are July 27th and our RSVP date is July 1st

  • I honestly dont remember what we put )= I tihnk it was june 20 (for stragglers) my venue doesnt need a final count until 10 days before, were 7/5. And so that gives us time to make our seating chart!
  • Our wedding is 7/13, and our venue requires the final head count by 7/5, so I made the RSVP date about 2 weeks before that on June 21st. I think we will actually put the invitations in the mail around may 13th. Our hotel block gets opened up on June 13th so I hope that gives enough time for people to book.

  • Our wedding is the 18th. I have the RSVP date for 6/19. I wanted plenty of time to call people that didnt respond and plan the final details. This will also give me time to remind people about the hotel block which is released on the 28th.

<div>Our wedding is also July 27 and I was thinking of using July 1 as well, but my mom told me she thought that was too early to expect people to reply. </div><div>
</div><div>I disagree with her, and am glad to see someone else using the same deadline I am! Given that we sent StDs, it's going to be a DW since many guests live out of state, and 3 weeks before is during Independence Day weekend...just makes sense. :)</div>

  • Ours is July 20th and we asked for a response time of July 6th. I need a week's notice for my catering company, and figured this would give "some" budge time between the response date and my wedding. Although if I could go back and reorder my invites, I would have probably put the 1st just because people will probably forget completely around the 4th of July weekend.
  • My wedding is July 12 and my response date is June 12. I chose this date because that is the cutoff date to reserve rooms. (Well, before they get released to the public) I plan on sending out the invitations the week of April 21- 27.
