I am officially starting to plan

Hey everyone. So i have been looming around the boards getting ideas and responding here and there. My wedding is not until March 19, 2011 but i am now officially starting my planning. We go this coming thursday to put our down payment on the reception venue which may actually also be the ceremony venue. We have also chosen the colors that we would like which we will see how it fits in with the hall when we go thursday. I am super excited and i can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!! I am also thinking of starting my gown shopping maybe this weekend depending on the weather. They are saying its supposed to be decent sunny and in the 40's. Lets hope for no snow!!!!!!! I know its super early but honestly i am taking my time and doing it all right cuz i do not plan on having another one and i want it perfect! Giving myself plenty of time to get things done especially considering we are on a super tight budget and paying for everything ourselves. I will be doing a lot of DIY projects. So if you have any ideas for me let me know!!!!!! I will take all the advice you ladies want to give me!

We are going with a not major venue. We are using Papa Leone's Banquet Hall in Dundalk. The woman i have been talking to is really nice and i can't wait to start working with her more closely on this. She is actually one of the family members that still run the restaraunt.

Darn near everything i can! lol I am going to be doing my centerpieces for sure. I have already done the save the date cards although i am kind of thinking about redoing them. I am planning on doing the invites and all that myself also. I am looking into the pocketfolds as a possibility cuz i really like the looks of them. I really have no idea what i really want so i have been looking at profile here and there and trying to get ideas of what i like and what i dont like.

Smange - yes that is my thoughts exactly. I figure if i start now that i won't have to be rushing and trying to get everything done at the last minute. I need to get me a container to put stuff in though. I've got votive candle holders already that i am planning on using. I am buying mirrors and mini easels off of another Knottie at some point this week. Still waiting on her to get back to me again with an exact time. I can't wait to get them. Something i am looking for if anyone has it are the lavender rocks and the flameless votives. So if you have these and want to sell them now or after your wedding please let me know!

Starting early is always best, it make it fun for longer! I found this website www.centerpieceinabox.com seemed to be a good idea for people wanting to 'DIY' centerpieces, I love the way they offer a rental option, I thought about doing my own centerpieces too but didn't want to be stuck with 25 or more tall glass vases.

I'm doing my own flowers... 45 small arrangements to be used as centerpieces, mantle decorations, table decorations, (cup)cake (stand) topper, etc., plus my bouquet and all the bridesmaid bouquets.

I ordered the flowers yesterday and it came to just under $500. Add that to the $100 I'm paying a florist to make the bouttonieres and corsages, plus the $200 I spent on vases and supplies, and my flowers will cost $800 total.

There is a wonderful floral wholesaler in Silver Spring, they have been fantastically helpful!

I also have 144 flameless candles and 144 frosted glass votive holders that I will be selling after the wedding... which is in NINE DAYS, ack.

Tracy - wow that is a lot of flowers! I don't think i am going to have to many. I will have my bouquet and my bridesmaids bouquets and the bouts. I could have gotten an amazing deal on my flowers as my dad worked for a florist for over 20 years and they had known me since i was a baby. But go figure the owner sold the business at the beginning of last year! I am just like why couldnt you have waited til i got married! lol oh well.

How much are you going to be selling the flameless candles for? I will only need about 40 of them and thats if i use all the holders i have.

It does sound like a lot, I should have specified my vases are tiny glass cubes, 3" square.

We're having a cocktail-party style reception, lots of dinner food but no assigned seating, a combination of small tables that seat 4-6 people and elbow-height cocktail tables. So with the small arrangements I can use 3 on the larger tables, one on the cocktail tables, 5 across mantles, etc.

I haven't figured out pricing yet, but I'm planning to list most of my items for sale pretty quickly once we get back from the honeymoon!

I am sooooo excited i can't wait to really get into my planning. I have so many ideas running around in my head. I am looking for some really nice vintage type swirl pictures cuz i think that is what i am going to go with for the STD's and Invites as far as deco wise on them. I really like that idea.
