Q re: hair/makeup person that is coming to venue

I have hired a hair/makeup person to come to our venue the day of the wedding. She is an independent person (not affliated with a salon). So, it is customary to pay her a tip over what she is already charging me for that day?

Hmmm I am not sure about this. I would say no because they usually charge a travel fee, but I may be wrong on this. Is it just you or your entire party? If there is more than just you, I would, because that is a lot of work.

I did.  According to most rules I've come accross, the hair/makeup person should be tipped.  I also loved mine, so would have tipped her regardless.  This is from the knot tipping suggestions:

Wedding Hair Stylist and Makeup Artist

This is one area where a gratuity is definitely expected. Tip between 15 - 20 percent just as you would in a hair salon, and consider giving a little extra if there's a crisis, like one of your bridesmaids has a meltdown over her updo and it requires a redo at the last minute.
    Protocol: Expected
The $tandard: 15 - 25 percent, depending upon the quality of service
When to Tip: At the end of your service

Thanks... I have had a hard time figuring this one out. Since she isn't "sharing" her profit with a salon and charging a travel fee.

LOL...oops.. I just figured that since the prices were already high, that it was covered. :)
